    Diagnosing the DB2 pump

I would go through some preliminary stuff before swapping pumps out. Like it was said, check filters first. Check for flow to the IP while cranking. Do you hear the solenoid on the IP cover clicking when you apply 12v to it? Check the return line for blockage. Has the tank sock been inspected...

    very hard shifting into 4L

I'm assuming your M1028 has an NP205 tcase? If so, you just need to shift it like you hate it. The more you exercise the linkage the easier it will go but they are pretty clunky geardrive units. It does go against the instructions but I've found mine shifts best rolling slightly. I've done it in...

Keep Military OEM or change scheme looking for advice.

I wouldn't sweat it. If you make one person happy by keeping it original than it is well worth it.

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Probably I have no problem with that, way easier than rust repair. I wouldn't mind clocking up that tcase at the same time either.

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Yup, 2wd 2500 350 700r4 Burban. The 2wd ones are typically much cleaner up in my parts as the 4wd ones die a rather terrible death due to rust. This one according to the oil change and PBA stickers came from Washington/Oregon area. It is pretty mint underneath, back tailpan area is puff. It...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Mine was pretty chewed up electrically but I straightened it out with a pair of 555JHO alternators. I decided that I would rather buy a mint Suburban for the same money it would cost to fix the metal work on the M1010 so it was a no brainer. Plus the Suburban is way more practical to drive...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

So after drooling over this build long enough, I decided to gut my ambulance for parts and go out and buy a Suburban. Mine even came with a wicked cool cowboy hat :) Looks like you have some friendly competition, let the Dante's Peak military clone truck build begin...muhahahahahaha!!!

    M1010 alternator mounting question

I can't remember clearly off the top of my head but I replaced both of mine with a Leece 555-JHO. They required some grinding on the case to fit but the spread was the same on both areas. I do remember the physical bracket to engine block having a spacer on mine for the lower mount. Maybe yours...

    NP205 T-Case found!

Have you personally ordered this and it fit an NP205? Everyone I've compared aftermarket fits an NP208 regardless of application.

    NP205 T-Case found!

Nice! Be careful with the 4wd switch, they are near impossible to find. I would remove it while you are handling the case just to prevent breaking it.

Be prepared to be taken out in transit! If you see an M1031 coming up on you with a trailer you've been warned :)

    M1031 generator ?

Search and yee shall be rewarded: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?25394-M1031-generator-and-pto-manuals Wiring diagram should be on the door of the box. Good luck trying to get it all sorted. You may want to look into an Apecs controller from B4Thundr.

Been on here a few years thought I'd finally introduce myself

Sorry for the very slow response. Let's plan to meet up in the next week or two. This weekend I have to tow a new rig home and get my M1031 inspected. I've done the Golden Road but not in my truck. I would be down for a Train or B-52 trip this summer.

    M1008 lifted suspension drag link

How much lift do you have and what are you trying to accomplish? You can modify what you have to make it work but Russm's suggestion is what ideally you want to run. A steering block made of aluminum doesn't sound right, most steering parts are made of forged steel or at minimum a cast, no...

Solution to M1031 generator control system using b4thundr Woodward Apecs controller

I have a B4Thundr controller and it works great. I should have budgeted a replacement a long time ago. I kept all of the stock wiring for the safety switches. Of course if they ever give me an issue I can just jumper the relay and be back working but my switches have worked great since they have...

Gas motor.. 12 volt .. & painless wiring harness

Not really trolling. I already pointed out that most people on here that have issues with a CUCV have not gone through and addressed the weak points which are well documented in the stickies. If I wanted to insult you, I would tell you that replacing a mechanically injected diesel (which is...

Gas motor.. 12 volt .. & painless wiring harness

A gas motor is going to have the same starting and charging system so I don't think you are gaining anything there. I'm not sure how a carb and spark system is simpler than a fuel system that only requires 1 wire to run. All seems like a lateral move. If you feel that redoing your truck's...

Gas motor.. 12 volt .. & painless wiring harness

Since I've redone the fuel system and rebuilt both alternators (aside from a single regulator failure which was bad right out of the box), my truck has been turn key driveable with zero failures over the last few years. I've driven her down to NC and back with tons of New England trips. Knock on...

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

As far as the downshift goes, you are accomplishing the same thing whether you get it to kickdown with the switch or placing it in 2nd. You are releasing the direct drive clutch which goes to 2nd gear. I manually do it just like you guys since I sometimes like to head into 2nd earlier on a hill...
