I'm always reminded about the men who put these together almost 70 years ago in Cleveland Ohio every time I work on it. During the disassemble there were several parts that had not been removed since leaving the factory.
Thanks for the vintage photo!
Tranny fluid
This question has been addressed several times see link
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/early-deuce/48771-m211-m135-hy-tran-question.html
I have used ATF, SAE30 and Hy-tran in our M221 and M215. No question about it, the M215 likes the Hy-tran the best.
M215
I have seen a number of M215 around, there is three unresorted examples within 1.5 hr of my location. The dump truck version of the 2.5 ton was easily utilized after surplus, so many of them were worn out years ago. To find a complete example with the hard to find parts I would consider...
What did the motors sell for? Looks like White AX160 368 cu in. These were used in White halftracks and commercial trucks. NOS motors for halftraacks sell for $2500-3500. I sure could use one as a spare.
M215
Another one saved! You have a genuine M215 dumper. Attached a couple pics of our M215. Looks like you have the correct tail gate and cab protector, can't tell if you have the correct fuel tank, different then the M135 / M211. Looks like the hard top could be a Memphis equipment item. Great...
Progress pics
Here are a couple update pictures. Should have the last of the armor installed next week. Next is to start on the interior, gauges, pulpit ring mount and finish paint.
Halftrack project
Here are a couple recent pics of our White M2A1 project. It has been a looooong process, but well worth the effort. Still a long way to go.

Also consider removing a freeze plug on the block to check how much sediment has turned into cement along the water jacket. I was having some coolant issues on our White halftrack, pulled a freeze plug only to discover a wall of hard sediment. I had flushed the block using the garden hose like...
Halftrack
Great looking project! Thanks for posting. Tell us more, what make (White, Autocar or Diamond T)? Looks like it has a power steering conversion. How much of it's past do you know?
It sure is great to see another of these classic WWII vehicles coming together.
Halftrack
Crazy expensive is correct, I don't think "get a deal and halftrack" belong in the same sentence. Blood sucking leech is more appropriate.

Up date pictures
Hello SS,
Had some time to snap a few up dated pictures of progress. most of the armor is installed, except for a few hundred armor screws. Brakes are complete and the wiring harness is in. Working on the interior and countless details. Should be able to drive it out of the...
I was watching that one on Ebay, overall nice halftrack. Noticed the rear floor is put together strange, extra step down were the rear seats should be. I have been restoring our White M2A1 for over 5 yrs, getting close to being back together.
Good luck on yours and nice purchase.

DLC, not sure what type of rims you are using. 5 ton super singles & HEMIT rims are bolt together tubeless. Leaking can occur at the large O-ring or the valve stem. Most likely the O-ring. These can be converted to tube & flap type but the rim has to be modified.
