Do you have any friends with a deckover trailer? These will fit on a standard 8' wide deckover. ****, being 3 hours your might even find it cheaper to find someone with a flat bed tow truck and get it 'towed' back to where you are, than paying through the nose from a shipping company.

You really need to deoxidize all the contacts. If you found the compressed air helped clean one problem up, imagine what the right tool for the job can do? You need the chemical solution to remove the oxidation from the contacts on ALL switches. You might find that gauge might read after all...
Im considering grabbing one, just to mix it up. I do have a well, so it cant be used in my panel for that side, but might be nice over overnight runs just to keep the boiler and a few lights on.
All you need is black iron pipe (believe its 1.25" from memory) and a black iron union with female threads on both sides. Just acts as a coupler, you then run whatever height pipe you want. A lot of guys run tractor flaps on the top after that.
