    M1009 stereo install

Also...My M1009 didn't come with the cab speaker housing thing, so I installed bigger speakers up front on both sides in the original holes. Tight work, but if you're creative you can make it work!

    M1009 stereo install

I left the original radio hole blank after I pulled it. I plan on installing my winch, off-road light controls, ect. there. I sawz-alled a hole in the dash and installed my cd player just above the ash trash. Since I wheel alot, I installed a piece of 2x4 with a piece of foam rubber glued to the...

    Springs vs. Blocks

Thanks for the input, gentlemen. That was sort of what I figured, but I've never lifted a CUCV before. As far as the axle wrap, could this stock 6.2 really cause it? I'm not against bracing the axle, but from what I've heard, it shouldn't be a problem. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also...

    Springs vs. Blocks

I have the option of either getting a 4" lift with full springs, or a 4" lift with front springs and rear blocks. What do you guys think? The full spring lift is used, as are the shocks that come with it; but both are in good shape. I'd buy a new steering arm. The spring/block combo is...

    Starter Troubles???

Is that liquid in your intake? Looks green...I had a coolant hose get cracked and it sprayed directly into the air intake. Soaked the filter cover, and leaked into the intake. Just an idea to check...

Here's what that spring does to bearings. No fun when it happens at 55mph.

    Hub Removal Tool

You will destroy the seal when you remove it just like Wolf said. Just buy a new one and be carefull when you install. Don't be shy on getting it out, hammer and chisel/big flat head screwdriver work great. Side note: There is a spring in that seal that is notorious for finding its way out...

M1009 radiator replacement 432098; engine oil cooler lines don't fit

I just put in a new Murray a few months back (PN 432098.) It did not come with any adapter kits or fittings. I put new gaskets on the cooler lines and installed. The lines went on a little tough...I really needed to push the line in as far as possible before I could start the thread on the line...

M1009 - Hard starting when Cold

When I had this 'hard start when cold problem' and found good glow plugs, wiring, ect...I installed a block heater.

    Hub Removal Tool

It's a pretty standard tool. If you ask your local auto parts store, they can look up the part number for you no problem. You'll need some leverage to get the nut off and a torque wrench to install in properly when you're done. When I check mine, I lay everything out in the order it goes...

    M1009 Convertable

Oh! Forgot to mention and I'm sure someone else will note this... I understand the cab is a very important structural part of the vehicle! Before I decide to chop the top or not, I plan on installing a full roll cage for the cab and the back. It is for safety first, of course, but I also...

    CUCV mileage question

It's entirely possible that it only has 13k on it. The thing is, a lot of these vehicles; as is the case with many military vehicles, never or rarely left base. We have a 2000 step van (bread truck) out here that pretty much just sits on the flight line and idles all day and has under 2000...

    M1009 Convertable

Here's my idea. Let me know if it's ridiculous. I'm thinking of cutting the cab off of my M1009 and making it detachable. Still in the brainstorming stages here, but I was thinking of chopping it flush at the doors and just back from the windshield. At the bottom, I'd weld plates to be able...

    Problem Starting my M1009

TOTALLY unrelated question: I have a 4'' lift on the way and am looking at the Mickey Baja's, but can't decide on 33 or 35 inchers...I know either will fit, but I was wondering if you could post a pic of your truck so I can get a sneak peak of what mine would look like. No hurry, sounds like...

    6.2 no start

I just had this same problem. It turned out to be an airlocked system. If you have a hand vacuum pump ($25 at harbor freight if you don't) remove the outlet hose from your filter housing (the lower hose on the right side). Attach the hand pumb to the filter housing (the right angle port) and...
