So how does it stack up to the spring alone? I've been looking at that mod myself but have been a little hesitant. Is it worth my trouble? Or should I just buy a purpose built air ride seat?
Simple question, but are you sure that the transfer case is in gear as well? Engine running, transmission in gear and transfer case not locked into gear equals no go as well...
Absolutely agree. I'm in your shoes 2mtrucks. My ether start system works great, and there will certainly be situations where I'll be forced to use it. But given the choice I'd much rather start my engine pre-heated by the block heater
Nice stuff Zout! I'll have to look into that!
I changed my fuel filter out, and since my fuel tank was fairly low, I took the opportunity to drain the fuel tank as well. I flushed it and filtered the diesel several times! I used a Mr. Filter funnel to filter it, and wow...just wow. You...
Grey dog,
I don't have XZL's, so I can't say for sure. Check to make sure it isn't printed on the side of the tire, otherwise search for the info, I'm sure others have mentioned it.
I use Rotella, 15w40 in all my trucks along with the appropriate amount of Lucas oil stabilizer. Works great...
I got the 'Worktunes' by 3M. They work great at cutting out the harmful noise, and allow me to pipe in a little music (making the ride much more enjoyable).
Personally, I think shooting style headphones are the worst! I tried using a pair that had a mic/speaker system that, like you say, seemed...
I was actually just looking at some deadening foam at Grainger last night. I was a little concerned that the temperature ranges it could be used with were a little low (it maxed out in the low 200 degrees if I remember). I don't want that stuff melting down onto my engine! I'll check McMaster...
Has anyone been able to locate a suitable replacement for the insulation batting under the hood of the 939 series?
I've searched till I ran out of internet, and found several people that were missing or planning on replacing their insulation, but have not found anyone who has actually done it...
Could I trouble you for a pic of the underside?
And based on your mounting, what kind of capacity will you get with that crane/mounting setup? EDIT: Nevermind, I missed your above post
I made a similar setup using the 4" sock filters from Duda. I used a drum that was elevated as a settling tank, drained off the residual water, then sent a controlled flow of oil through a filter sock stack going from 100-0.5 microns. I put them into a 4" piece of PVC with a reducer down to 2"...
In VA, and in most places I hear about, a CDL is required if you're using the vehicle COMMERCIALLY. If using it for personal use, then a CDL is not required.
That said, it wouldn't hurt to get one. That way you'll have the knowledge, and you'll have the CDL should you get that aggressive...
I changed my filter stack with every drum-full of WMO (55 gallons). Filter socks don't cost much, and its cheap insurance that you are ACTUALLY filtering down to the correct micron level. Plus, its a lot easier to change filter socks than it is to change the truck's filter on the side of the...
There doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason to EUC's. Some trucks and trailers require them, but others of the exact same model do not.
Its just another one of the things that make dealing with GL....interesting?
Iggy, I'm down the road from you in Portsmouth and have a 923 if you want to come by to have a look. If you've never been around one before, it might give you a leg up on what to look for.
With a 900 series, for private use, in the state of VA, you DO NOT need a CDL. I can't speak for all...
