Good news and an interesting twist... So I went to test the governor arm and while fiddling around with everything connected to the injection pump I unscrewed the knurled knob that sits parallel to the injector head piece and right next to the fuel inlet (anyone know for sure what this...
I will check out the fuel flow tomorrow which might be the issue since it took me quite a while to bleed out the system to get fuel to the injection pump.
You mention the governor arm on the outboard side of the injection pump - currently mine has a section of twisted stainless steel safety...
Ok - so the numbers I had provided earlier were off the set instrumentation - with the test meter on the convenience outlet I am getting the following:
106 - 110v depending on the position of the voltage adjustment knob (95v at idle) and then the kicker - I am only reading 36 - 37 Hz...
The...
Hey guys - thanks for the quick attention - I have a fluke 187 at my disposal so I should be able to verify the voltage and hertz without issue - I was taking the readings off the gauge panel with the throttle control pulled all the way out so the set was at the maximum RPM that can be developed...
Hey guys this may well be better served with a seperate thead but figured I would start here for a little advice:
I have a MEP-005a S/N KZ04624 that I just recently got running for the first time; it took a little bit of work to bleed out the fuel system and finally get it to fire but now it...
I have a M543 (1967 multifuel wrecker) with 1600's (53's) mounted on it - as mentioned it's heavy - about 31,000lbs and you would need to retain most of the bed if you were to want the rear winch...
As a side note the 45,000lb rear winch is a serious tool; if you are looking to un-stick the...
G'day Dennis - I will take a look at the parts book tonight - I think it shows both styles of compressors with a fair bit of detail (no pesky bash guards in the way)
Let me see what we come up with - would be interested in this project when all is said and done - if there are any other...
Very cool stuff - what solid modeling program are you using?
Also what scale is the final product going to be?
Have looked commercially for models of the MG-1 (M2) for a while with little luck - I have one that is 1:48 that came with a B-24 bomber model...
Really would like to find a 1:35...
Off the same one at Evergreen... Another in the UK and not sure where the musuem piece was from...
All the later compressor... I can get some pictures from home of the early compressor if you'd like...
I have a parts book with everything exploded out if you wanted any pages of that...
Lift points
When going to rig the m29 for lifting you use the two provided sling points which are towards the edges of the vehicle on the bulkhead which runs behind the driver seat and engine compartment.
In the attached picture they are the round holes at the top corners of the bulkhead...
I work on big ships doing heavy engine overhaul and repair - giving me lots of experiance to do a lot of non traditional rigging in tight spaces with heavy loads of delicate (but enormous parts)
When you have to fly a 4000lb part off the end of a rail system, around the corner, over an edge...
Sam - the more I use the crane truck (wrecker) the more I am tending to agree with you - the reach is pretty decent already and the truck really would need to be bigger and heavier to support a longer stick...
And that doesn't even take into account the structural issues of chopping the...
I have seen a few where the boom was whacked off just above the extension cylinder pin and another boom was welded to it (the added section was cut 4ft or 5ft below the pin)
Only draw back is now you have 4ft to 5ft more boom all the time - was thinking of making a replaceable extended boom...
Proly take her up to the shop... Needs paint in a bad way... Gotta strip off the lights, prep the remaining sheet tin and mask off everything else - then blast it all with OD semi gloss...
