Sweet sound, very video worthy!
Jim, you may get paid...
I have a heck of an exhaust leak up by the manifold. I took the manifolds off today. The gasket between the two manifolds was blown out. I see some small hairline cracks as well. Fortunately my brother gave me a good set he picked up at a salvage yard in Cheyenne WY. I was able to get the new...
Update:
The stands are working very well. They held a lot of big tin without issue.
The only modification was spiral wrapped electrical tape. The foam kept opening at the seam without it. No problems since. Also used a pair of shelf brackets to hang them up on the wall when not in use.
The only...
I would definitely consider a REALLY NICE m109 box and a really nice M211. You will find a guy with an excavator to lift the box on and tighten down the 6 bolts and 4 U bolts. Takes about 2 hours. Much easier than fixing the 220 box, unless you find a perfect m220.
As a matter of fact, that is...
Ok here we go.
1. Flywheel
2. Bare trans
3. Torus cover
4. torus cover installed
5. Both torus halves installed
6. The first Torus half installed (pic out of order)
7. The torus halves, driving and driven.
Oops, I forgot the bellhousing. It should have been on the bare transmission. Remember...
I guess that thing is the torus cover. It seals tight to the flywheel with a gasket and a bunch of bolts. 30 bolts actually. The torus is inside.
The bellhousing cover and plug also keeps water out during deep water crossings.
Tha manual tells you to take the bellhousing cover off, wash down...
Somehwere someone said if you switch to ATF, you will gave smoother shifts. I have one with 10w and one with ATF. The ATF is thinner and tends to leak more.
Also, the transmission is unique. There is a gasket between the flywheel and the thing that holds the torus. I guess I would say it is very...
Wow, that is awesome! You are making me want to start another project.
I was a little worried a few posts ago when you first added the expanded metal. I envisioned several hundred pounds of charcol and a bunch of chicken halves... LOL
You have to completely discharge the battery, then hook it up backwards and recharge it backwards. I suppose if you hooked one up backwards it would discharge the weaker one, them jump it with 24v or recharge it backwards. Either way it is result of human error.
I like the group 27 idea. They...
I have one peice of advice, Get it running, check it for safety, check brakes and take it for a ride and see how it shifts. Brakes and shifting are the two big money pits that grind these trucks to a halt. Start at the right front corner and inspect every piece on the truck while working your...
Un-matched batteries...
We are running 24 volts, that is 2-12 volt batteries in SERIES. In a 12 volt system with multiple batteries, they are in PARALLEL. There is the difference. In series all you need is 2.something volts per cell, if one cell, or even 6 cells are a little weak they don't...
