    Pripyat, Russia

I will not do a recovery from there! Unless I can hire a private contractor for delivery and gift it to Ossama Bin Hidin! That might save a lot of Canadian and U.S. Forces lives... not to mention the poor civvies who were unlucky enough to get caught in the middle! Sometimes You have to make...

Thinking about Cab Marker Lights for M1009

Kinda defeats the purpose of Black Out Drive! Save the Christmas lights for the civvies and highway trucks.

    Ice boogers

Happens frequently up here. Wire Looms and well secured wires help a bit, but winter weather does whatever it wants....

3 M1009's recovered today from "The Ranch"

Whoa. Chill out. Not everyone is initially ready to battle GL or Canadian gov't surplus by themselves. If they want to pay for the service, I say WHY NOT? When hey get more experienced or have more time they can go prospecting and roll the dice to see what they've won. Save the battles for the...

    New Guy Radio question

I would rather get caught bootlegging on a Ham Freq than any Military Allocated freq. Either way, it will not be fun. Army has guns and cops, HAMs have FCC inspectors. Wouldn't do either. Stan. VE7 HHK

Mech. starter Solenoid Vs. Electically Actuated Starter

A locking master switch would be way cheaper and easier. Unless the old starter is hooped... Then take the old starter to a rebuild shop or an HD Truck toy store, explain your problem, and use their knowledge! Good luck and thanks for thinking of safety.

    Blame it on the cat!

Keeping a Lynx M-113 as a hobby is acceptable. Don't know why you keep a pissy mountain lion as a house pet. A good cat should have tracks, or live under the hood and help move the big green beast! Not just destroy the soft top or get caught in the belts while doing a kitty warm! Thanks for posting!

What do you use to clean off your engine?

Sunlight Dish Soap and Varsol. After that a MILD pressure wash! Before you do that try an inspection to find out where the grunge came from!

Had a chance to visit the garage

My God! What an incredible collection! That has to be kept! Do they have a web site for a more liesurely tour. So Cal is a day and a half away, so I gotta wedge it into vacation time! ... And bribe my wife Big Time! This may interrupt the convoy plans that I had!

    draining tanks after driving

Drain daily no matter what. Moisture in the system is really bad. Too much of it can get expensive. It's worth the 5 min to drain the tanks.....trust me! And do the rest of your post trip inspection!

    KY recovery question (temp tags?)

Just a suggestion. If they won't issue a temp tag for In-state travel, request a tag to go just out of state, to store the MV at your buddie's farm. Might work! Good luck and please post some pics!

    CUCV's banned in WI

Try moving to Canada. MOT is trying to not allow anymore MV's to be registered. Instead of having to learn French, they would all be speakink antotzer language now. Talk about Cranal Rectosis! My member of Parliment is about to have a very uncomfortable day! Lt. Leschert...(C.F. Retreaded!)

    Canadian members and their Vehicles.

Re: Importation of Military (Historical) Vehicles. I just found this old doc on the web. I don't know if it has been enacted, but since none of us knew in advance.....Well you know the story. Please tell me that I'm wrong. I want an M-35 A2 W/W...

    Canadian members and their Vehicles.

ILTIS.....I was issued several. We always tried to get something else....Even a Budget Rentals Blazer. The Iltis was crap. One Issue was due to overheating and that crappy thing was only safe to climb a hill in reverse. Lack of speed, combat stamina and servicability were other issues. The only...

how to tell sprag or air?

Front axle engaged and full lock turns should be very difficult. Your beast will jump, hop and protest in a manner which you will understand in a heartbeat. Armstrong steering is likely what you are dealing with. For tight turns, get the beast barely rolling in low range, and start working your...

    M-135 electrical

Just put a bid in. A hard copy is way more usefull on the work bench. I can't down load that TM from the resource section of this site. Gotta get the truck fixed. The New Years' thing won't happen unless I put a 3 KW genset and a 30 Amp charger in the box and leave it running! Mind you, after...

    M-135 electrical

Could someone tell me which TM covers the 24v charging system on an 1956 M-135, and is it posted here? We went from a positive charge on the Amp meter to a slow discharge. I know that one of the batteries is suspect, ( and I do have 2 spares), but I would like to know more about the Voltage Reg...
