If it's an actual m44 chassis then the rear axles will be set up for singles instead of duals, but you can easily change it to duals just by flipping the hubs. The m35 series is also often referred to as the m44 series so it could be a different model.

All of the major components and many other parts on the GMC m135 are different from the m35 series trucks. Axles, cab, engine, transmission, transfer case, etc are different.

I took a look at the side racks today, I have a stack of them but they're all for the left side. Luckily just like on m101s and other trailers they're interchangeable if you flip the top board so I just need to find some gates.

It's not bad at all considering the age and location. From what I could tell the box needs very little welding. I'm sure like a lot of trailers it didn't see much use in service and it has certainly faired well in civilian life seeing how the hitch and landing leg haven't been messed with.
It is a Fruehauf. I figured it would sit in the yard just as good as my m105 that I’ll never use either.

Most likely it's the one under the dash. It will be bolted to a plate that has 2 small relays attached as well . Just pull the plug out and see if that stops the cranking.
A lot of people on the site change out the stock relay for a heavier duty one as shown here...
