    M37 engine swap

Why not go for a Chrysler 318 v8? Reliable motor, easy to find parts, will give you road speed.

    700r4/np208 swap

I'm no expert so I hope someone else chimes in, but if you have the TH400 trans and are swapping to the 700r4 I believe the 700r4 is longer than the th400 and therefore your front shaft will be too short and the rear shaft will be too long. Basically any transmission swap will most likely...

    Engine swap

I've fitted a 6.2 GM diesel in mine and when I get it all built it will have a 6.5 GEP motor in it with a 700R4 trans. Should move good both on and off road. And it will be turbo also.

NP420 transmission into 1963 M37; shifter rod hits the bottom of the dash in 1st gear

I know that is just a tongue in cheek statement, but I triple dog dare ya to hook up nitrous and post both pics and video....LOL! Good job on the shifter should give you lots of easy shifts going forward.

    Stock, Stock Looking or Modified

Don't worry someone somewhere will have their short in a knot over someones modifications. I put composite brake lights on a M151a1 that I had and someone got "offended" that I had done that, but my ride was safer with that modification. But, in general most people in the hobby are live and...

    Stock, Stock Looking or Modified

I think the easiest modification to get a little more land speed would be to swap to the 6.5L turbo diesel motor and either a built up 700r4 or a 4L80E transmission. This should give you good road speed without a major expense and difficulty or swap. From what I understand and what I've seen...

Need some clarification on M880 Camo Pattern

The MERCD Camo color combination was also set by your theater of operation. If you were going to fight in Europe or Korea your unit panted the Woodland or Winter US and Europe pattern of Forest Green, Field Drab, Sand, and Black. If you were going to be in say a warmer climate like jungle...

    M151 engine head differences?

NAPA use to make an exhaust manifold sealant that used in conjunction with the gaskets kit would make an exhaust manifold leak never happen again on a m151. I know cause I used it with the gaskets and it work miracles on my old 151. I also had broken the bolts off the head and when I talked to...

    M151 engine head differences?

I know that at one time a kit was available for the exhaust manifold which had four square gaskets made out of a fiber metal material, new clamps and bolts and this kit solved exhaust leaks at the manifold, but how knows if any still are available today.

    M151 engine head differences?

I am not aware that there was a light and heavy duty head. As far as I know the heads were the same on all M151s from start to end. I've used heads off of A1 motors on A2s and vice versa. Please if someone has more information please share but as I said I don't know of any difference of light...

    Towing a M105a2 w/ civilian Pick Up ?

Yes I use to pull a M105 and also an MKT behind an Ford F250. I even pulled the M105 from Cleveland Ohio to Ft. Drum NY in 1994 with a 5KW Generator and a boat load of tools to Ft. Drum and a completely torn up cut up M151A2 in the truck and trailer from FT. Drum to Cleveland with no problems...

    2 meter radio in humv

The link to the antenna site has a big yellow box that says the antenna needs a good ground plane. Since the HMMWV is aluminum body that might be causing some of the problem. Try running a grounding wire from the antenna mount on the body to the frame and make sure you use good star washers to...

New guy with a slant back question

Take it from someone who's been in the hobby for over 30 years....ALL Military Vehicles are Loud, Noisy, and they Leak! And Murphy's rules about MVs says that rain will find the drivers right foot too. So it doesn't matter if you get a 1/4 ton, 3/4 ton, 5/4 ton, 2.5 ton, 5 ton or 10 ton MV to...

    Fake CUCV M1009

A long time ago...like in the early 90s when CUCVs were still in full use and getting a surplus one was hard and if one did come up surplus it was because it was wrecked. I purchased a Yellow 84 Blazer that had been used in a construction company and slowly over time turned it into a M1009. At...

Kinda got carried away..... M1028 rebuild

I've read through the whole thread and I seem to be missing one thing. Where did you get the TV cable and corresponding brackets for the diesel? Also just wondering why you didn't go turbo with the bigger motor? Thank you in advance for your reply and your work is great and inspiring to me.

Need some clarification on M880 Camo Pattern

Picture one how the AF trucks looked with black stenciling on the doors "FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY" etc.

    Strange parts

I'm no expert, but the drive shaft looks like it might be off of a PTO/Winch setup. Just a guess though. The brackets look almost like the rear seat retainers for an M151, but they are not. Maybe they are for a different truck? Not much help, but that's my guesses anyway.

Need some clarification on M880 Camo Pattern

All the ones I saw in the 80's where that dark green that the Air Force started using in the 70's instead of the blue.
