When jeep still had the museum in Toledo back before they leveled the plant they had pictures of the M151 production line and of the vehicles coming out of the factory and parked on the grounds before shipping. I've saw them with both my eyes. It is my personal believe that they picked...
Are these gear sets still available? I've done web searches with no luck on finding vendors selling them? I want to do this to my 6.2 but have not found anyone selling them. And if someone does have a set they think they are made of gold and silver.
The easiest and least expensive way to turbo the 6.2 in the CUCV is to get the Intake Manifold, Exhaust manifold, Turbo, cross over pipe, and down pipe off of a 6.5 GM Turbo Motor. This is all factory items and will be a basic bolt on plug and play system. Do a search on here as there have...
I just read your thread over on the other site. Good build. The bed with the tool boxes looks like it might have been the bed from a WWII truck. Either the USMC Internationals or the Ford GTB also know as the Burma Jeep. I hope you rebuild your great grandpas bed. Also even though NDT tires...
Well steam cleaning or solvent tank is the best way to clean a tank. Otherwise take the fuel pump out to open the access to the tank and flush it and use bottle brushes to reach in there and clean the best you can. I haven't used the tank liners that are out there, but a web search will help...
Hi....welcome to the madness of military vehicles. I doubt you'll find a HMMWV for under 7K that is not a complete ground up restoration project. Even if you somehow stumbled across one for that price you will put double that in parts and materials into it to make it road worthy. The sad news...
I thought Dec 7th was Pearl Harbor Day? You could always get a CCKW and that would put you back in the GMC club but keep with the WWII theme you have going. Good luck with your projects.
I had a M151 where someone had taken a screwdriver or a chisel and pried the channel more open. I guess they wanted the top to pull through easier...problem is they left little humps in the channel.
You should be able to make a plate to cap the hole off with. Take the original ring, trace it onto some thin steel plate and use a jig saw with a metal cutting blade and cut it out. Drill out the holes for the bolts and bolt it up and paint it OD.
I would assume unless someone has done something different that you have Dot 3 brake fluid. Get the manuals for the truck. Check the fluid level, then try adjusting the brakes, and then bleed if need be. The system is a good system and if working properly with stop the truck on a dime and give...
Truck looks nice. To bad it wasn't the round headlight configuration of the late 70's then people would have wondered if it was an M880 series...
Interesting project. Yes it is a shame that someone hacked it up. If you restored it you would have a big job on your hands. It might be easier to take what's left of the original cab and back and save those parts for anyone with a crash truck who needs parts and pick up another M37 cab to...
Though Grounds on an MV can drive a man to drink you need to do a mythotical trouble shoot on your electrical. Like JK1 asked does the motor turn and start? Yes then batteries are good no fix battery issues. Do you have 24v on the the main lead to the headlights? Using a Volt Meter or 24V...
Rule #1 with all MV lighting: Check all your grounds. Check the ground on the turn signal switch. Check the ground on the flasher box. Check the grounds at each light fixture front and rear. Check your body to chasy ground. Check your battery to chasy ground. Check and clean all the grounds...
