I don't know Kenny,
I bet the designers did not plan for GL forklift operators in their original design.
This was also overlooked in the many engineering reviews of the componants.
The purpose of the two piece wheel is well documented. You can change a tire , put a tube in, all in the field without a tire machine.
Torque rods, design failure???????????????
So what is your new & improved design? seems like this design has served quite well for decades.
useful link to...
the frame will still have it's original M109A3 vin likely from the late 60's early 70's
I know of several that had theirs registered that way.
You only have one DMV office where you live, go to a different clerk then and suggest they precede the vin with zero's to make it 17 digits.
Been meaning to squirt some Lusterless Forest Green ever since I bought it.
Well that only took a year and a half
She still has all the rust, dents and multitudes of camo paint
all under the fresh stuff.
I have given a rollback adaptation alot of thought over a long time.
Not gonna be that hard to do with the existing bed, just not gonna be cheap.
The dumpster roll off type would be cheaper.
Won't have to get the bed nice & low to load a GPW, just have to get the tailgate close to the ground...
One of mine was done like that.
The tag on dash was a replacement
there will be 4 digits to the left of it on the frame i.e. 0225, or 0325 etc
there is usually a # & date on the frame rearward of the shock mounts.
That date I believe is the heat treat date of the frame.
There are several nicer deuces in Michigan than mine. She is photogenic though.
I only need to ship money to DH, Gimp has already taken my tow bar to Steve's for pickup.
See him advertising on Northern Michigan craigslist often.
Have some mud bogger friends that have been buying axles from him.
Haven't dealt with him myself as of yet.
