Remember this truck was considered sub-par to the CCKW and therefore the majority of the trucks and parts went to the USSR under lend lease. There are a few owners in the MVPA that you might want to hook up with.
For $100.00 bucks get it. If you rebuild it the price is right. If you part it out the price is right. Get with the fella who's buying the US6 he has the bed you need. Work him a deal... :)
Yes it is a M135 bed. You could swap a M211 or even a M35 bed and get away with it as they are close to the WWII beds. Unless it is a wood bed. That a whole differnet animal. I would offer what you think is fair. If it was me I would start at $1500 and go up from there but I would not go any...
Actually most trucks were given a finial coat at the factory for that reason and a few more. Part of it was because some parts came prepainted from other vendors. Also any bolts that were put in had to get touched up. So the truck would get a final shot before rolling off the line. (or at...
Those aftermarket bodies are nice, but are a little bit heavier. (Thicker gage steel) And are missing those little details that make it a M151. If I ever get another M151 or if I get one of those aftermarket ones I would take some time and do the little things to make it look right. Like...
They got to be doing 50 vehicles a day because it became habbit or old hat. They just got into thr rythym and cranked them out. Became old hat so to speak.
Check Vintage Power Wagons. They make a replaceable keyed door handle. Allows you to lock the truck. You can look at the catalog on line (PDF) and see it. It's like $35.00. paint it OD and nobody will know the difference.
While you have it appart take the adjuster block apart and put a little antiseiz on it. It will make brake adjustments later in life easier. The brakes on the M211s are great!
I have seen trucks with the jerry can mount on the bed. The only thing might be needed is a back spacer to move the mount out a tad so that the can can fit with out hitting the top rail of the truck. But that's going from memory of how the truck is made.
Questions:
1. Hmmwv rims? Spacers?
2. Where did you get the front and rear bumpers? Did you self make?
Truck looks excellent and you did a good job on it!
When the army wanted to look at replacing the CUCVs they had GM, ford, and Chrysler submit a dozen or so models for testing. The CUCVII was chosen though the replacement was as we know small numbers. It is likely that this Dodge made its way accross the pond and then was dx from there to...
You know....when I was a kid I saw M37s and M38A1s being used my the local municipalities and I thought boy I wish they had gone to regular folk. Then As I got a little older I saw M715s and M35s at local municipalities and I thoguht boy I wish they had goen to regular folk. Then I got older...
Nice looking truck. Drive it around for a while and see how you like it and what you are looking to get out of it. More power? Keepig up with traffic etc? Then think about a motor swap. Maybe give thought to the Optimizer 6500 (6.5TD GM Motor) General Engine Products This is what is being...
@Storm 51, Your truck looks great. I love the combat rims. I think they make the M37 look meaner or tougher!
As for the crastman ship. That is some really nice work. As a guy who does custom work (okay it's in leather) but as a guy who does custom work I understand if the customer wants X...
Even though the focus of the video made me a little dizzy I could see that big old grin on your face! You've got to be proud of yourself and what you've accomplished so far.
That is just wierd to me. You get that surplus from the Mill or did it go through local government hands? I have seen the guard to some strange things before, but I can't believe the local OMS shop doing that much work to make it look that good.
First congrats on getting your new ride. Second get the manuals. They have troubleshooting steps that tell you how to set up the test, conduct the test and what the results of the test tell you and how to fix it. Third....could be a couple of different things with your lights. Bad bulbs, bad...
