You can use the original lights that came on it or you can upgrade to the larger composit ligts. Or even the new LED ones. All will work fine. The only thing about the composit lights is on the front they don't fit well behind the wire guard so you have to make a small modification or remove the...
Nice looking truck. I like the seats. Though it is probably the picture angle but it looks like the back passingers would not have much leg room with those. Again it's probably the pictures angle that give that illusion. Enjoy your ride! Thought at that fuel price I think mine would sit in...
@tlmob1 No the trucks did not come from the factory with turn signals and I would be suprised if any left the military with the conversion kit installed because the army didn't do the conversion until the late 70s. Basically any vehicle in the military system in the late 70s had to have turn...
First off it's offical we all hate and love you at the same time. Love you for saving the truck and hate you for getting it for free.... rofl
Great find and I bet the old girl will fire right up for you. Congrats on your find!
Good looking truck! Congrats on the purchas and welcome to the madness. You know it is called military vehicle collecting. You will own more than one. It is also called OD Fever! Enjoy your ride!rofl
That motor looks very good and clean. Keep at it. It will start to cool down in the next few weeks and unlike us up here in the north that can't work from Nov.-Apr (ish) you'll have the cooler winter to keep working on your truck! :grd:
First, congrats on the new ride an how about posting a bigger pic of it. Second, I believe what Robert said above is correct you would need the original rims/tires.
Well it was 1946 and they needed trucks to work the land to feed the people and these boat trucks weren't any good in the outback....SO...... :nothingfunny:
Barrman, as you know I'm going to be rebuilding (tearing down inspecting and new seals at a minimum) a 6.2. Do you think I should just use a synthetic motor oil right from the get go?
Also the Overdrive I think is a good investment on the M1008 and M1028 trucks that have the higher gear...
I don't see how one system is supior to another. Both have their problems and both have their good points. 8mm or .308 both are going to put a big hole in something....
Well, for what my $.02 is worth. The first truck would give you plenty of leg room. You could get a custom seat and be sitting pretty, but it wouldn't be stock and needs a lot of work. Truck #2 needs a lot of work, but is retorable as is #3. Any MV unless you spend the money for a restored...
I had a vet argue with my that my old M211 was a multi-fuel that burned diesel and JP4. I would just smile and say "is that so?" all the time thinking I wouldn't want to burn diesel or JP4 in that old 302. :) I had another guy say my old CUCV had a converted 350 in it and I's say "is that...
I know a few guys from the rual area of Ohio that are on VFDs and I'm sorry to say that many of them have the additude of "that's good enough." Or "well heck we can make that." So, even though I'm sadden to read this I'm not surpised. This could have been avoided if they had gottern a system...
If the vehicle was not made with seat belts then the truck is exempt from the seat belt law. If it don't have it..it don't have it. Just drive carefully and enjoy the ride to the show.
