    Heating the M37

A lot of guy have had good luck with the M151 cab heater. I think they are like 25-30K going from memory here. They don't take up to much space in the cab. If you can find the original hot water that Warren suggested then go with that. If not try the M151 heater. If you do a search you will...

    New M211 Member

Welcome. Nice looking truck! It looks fairly complete and it has the winch. My old M211 had a winch but the winch had been taken. So that's a good find. Glad you saved the old girl from the scrappers. It should be a fun project. Keep us posted on your work and the keep picktures coming...

    Want to Dolly my MUTT's

I've flat towed a M151 from Cleveland to Baltimore and back with out pulling axle shaft and never had a problem with overheating of the diffs. I've flat towed all over the place and never had a problem. That being said. If you are concern pull the axleshafts as stated and make sure the wheel...

    My GMC, a little update

Change the harmonic ballancer while you have it apart. If that goes bad your crank goes with it. You have it apart might as well do it now. Since you've pulled the head might was well get a valve job done. Your in for a penny might as well be in for a pound... :)

    My GMC, a little update

If you can find them for a price you can afford I'd recomend switching over to the modern military LED lights. They are bright and maintence free.

    Ugly Trucking Disk Brakes

I made the hanger for the spring but you can take the hanger off the truck and just bump it out with some box tubing and bolt it back up. I'm using the power steering gear box from a M880 also (1978 Dodge W200) I'm in the process of hooking all that up right now. Truck is not on the road...

    Head Issues

Would you play the lottery for me... Sounds like your on the path to getting it back together despite the aggravation of delays.

Military M211 Gas Truck Exhaust System

You need a flex pipe between the muffler and the stack this way the cab can move as you bounce down the road. I had my local muffler guy custom bend a set up to replace the original made the stack and everything and it looked good. Worked good too. I wasn't going for original just functional...

    Stolen Hummwv?

I agree with this. If you seem them at all. Forgin sales, other agency sales etc may keep us the public from getting HMMWV. Then on top of it if they do go to public sales because a new vehicle is taking it's place they will do just like the M151s sell them off in big lots 300-500 at a time...

    paint questions

There were two colors of OD for Army M37s the early ones used a shade sightly darker than the WWII green. I don't remember the number. Then in the late 50 they switch to 24087 that was shown above. I'd say for this project get the 24087 have the kids give it a GI paint job and call it a day...

    Ugly Trucking Disk Brakes

I'm not that far into my project. I will probably have custom ones made because I'm going with a 6.2 diesel 700r4 NP208 set up and therefore everything needs to be changed. I assumed (I know my bad) that you were keeping with the stock motor and transmission. If you are keeping those parts...

    Intake/Exhaust Manifold Clamps

On the 302 it's not a mater of if the manifold is going to leak but when. I found a new set at the local NAPA store. I had to go to the one with the older guy who worked there 25 years to find it, but he found them and got them in for me. Of course that was like 15 years ago.

    US6 found

The hardest part of the restoration will be finding parts. Another source you might google to find is there seems to be quite a few in Australia, so maybe there is a group over there that you can get in contact with that can give you a lead on parts. Also there is a guy in Iowa who is a member...

New 1009 owner; no turbo bolts

I agree if you have an exhaust leak I wouldn't drive the truck. Even if you drive with the windows open the exhaust fews can make you sick. I also agree contact Banks and see if they can provide you with the bolts and gaskets as needed to fix.

    Ugly Trucking Disk Brakes

I got mine off of a user right here on Steel Soldiers. But check junk yards the forsale section here in SS. Craigslist, ebay etc. There are loads of D60 axles and GM 14 bolts out there. Just make sure it's off of either a pre93 Dodge or a GM truck. Fords have the pumpkin on the drivers side...

    Head Issues

Sorry to hear you're having a problem. I hate to say this but since it's at the manifold they may come back to you and say you craked it putting the manifold back on. It becomes a he said they said kind of thing. Depends if they are a stand up shop if they will eiher A: fix it right at no...

    WF 32 Right hand drive

I have no information, but could it have been made for overseas sales? Not lend-lease, but maybe Chrysler trying to sell to overseas markets before the war? Kinda of like the M601 is a Dodge power wagon modified for military use and sold overseas. Just a thought. Joe
