I believe the design intent was for minimal draft to aid in reducing crankcase pressure, and not to suck the oil out.
Like the venturi is designed to pull the liquid into the air flow and vaporize it.
As the M880 series of trucks are no different than their civilian W200 counterparts ( with the exception of missing a license tag light and a few addon pieces) I can not see any way they could restrict them without doing the same to all 70's pick up trucks.
Unlike the Chevy CUCV's, the M880 vin...
While I am no expert on this.........
Isn't it called a road draft tube?
and isn't it part of the design to help draw out excess crankcase pressures?
I.E. air passing by at a 90 degree angle to the opening creates a negative pressure (draft).
Hope you have a good turnout, I just have too much to do & won't make it down there today.
here's a pic of the truck & trailer I was planning on bringing down
Tarp = Cargo cover
Eric (319 on here) has the "super rope" listed in the classifieds.
One piece from front to back, through the eyelets and stretched down to the hooks.
While they may not have any super rope to spare, the boys up there in Petoskey will be able to answer any ?'s you can come...
I would think a DRW front spacer could be bolted to the stock front hubs.
While I disagree with most about the D44 unit bearings being wimpy.
I am sure they will fail prematurely with the load from the DRW spacer.
If your gonna do it, get a correct D60 for the front.
One of my deuces has a speedo that reads fast.
No GPS or pace car, I just know it won't do 60-65 mph at 2400 rpm on stock tires.
First I assumed that it had a speedo adapter for the 1100/20's,
so I swapped it with the one on my long bed with 1100R20's, as it reads slow with the bigger tires...
Sorry clinto, wrong info above. The A3 data plates do not list on / off road capacity.
The A3's are 5000lb cargo period, no doubling for on road.
this is due in part to the combat wheels, the wheels are rated at 4000lb max. and without a even driver the fronts have over 3000 on them.
Sounds like a couple of you need some tuning.
I've had several different 880's
The 886 a solid 9mpg (except for the time when the float was screwing up, then it was 6mpg)
1st one, a M882 would get 9 on the highway pulling an 1800 trailer with a 3800 car on it and the bed full of stuff. yet...
