I'm no expert so don't take my word as the finial say, but it is my understanding that booth the military vehilce and the civilian one used the same body parts to a point. Doors and back tops being different, but the body, hood windshield where all the same. Therefore I would think add...
I can here the teletype clanging away even now.... If you've never heard a teletype machine run before it is very interesting. Mechanical music to me... :)
Truck looks great! Congrats on your purchase!
I had in my posession for many years a government issued M151A2 Cavas top. The first group of M151A2s that rolled off the assembly line did in fact have canvas tops. Vinyl was switched to shortly there after and this is why canvas A2 tops are as rare as hens teeth.
We are talking about the feds here if they decided that your not suppose to have the vehicle and they want to take it back from you they can and will. It will be your money spent on trying to get it back.
If you've repaired the demilled damaged or someone before you repaired the demilled...
Start low and you can always go higher. What is the seller asking for it? See if he will take less. IMHO I would give $500-$800 for the truck as is, but I would offer $250.00 or 3 to start the process.
I've seen pictures of the various parts of the assembly line where a CUCV was going down the line and then a civilian truck was right behind it or in front of it. The term Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle ment that the cost was kept down by purchassing "off the self" vehicles. Ok they weren't...
I love the rims... Hmmm a HMMWV dragster...There's an interesting idea.... Looks like you have a nice base to start from. good luck with your project and yes lots of pictures. :D
Could be a M42 which is the M37 with the command post / radio truck kit. It would have had a canvas top with windows and a fold out table etc. If your going to go back snap some picks.
Is there a rebuild shop in your corrner of the world? I have a guy here that I take starters and alts to all the time. Usually leass than $100 bucks it's like brand new when he's done with it.
The info on the NAPA ones is helpful I have have a cucv motor that has no starter so that is good...
I was going to say what are you going to fill that big hole in the front with... :) Looks good. Keep up the good work. I myself work at a pace that is slightly slower than dirt.
They go for anywhere from $0 to $XXXXX depending on the condition, what accessories are attached and what both the buyer and seller want to get/give for it. If your happy with your purchase that is all that matters.
I would assume that he wired them into the marker light circut so that when the marker lights are on, but not the headlights the lights light up. Thus if you have the headlights on the marker lights are also on.
Advantage with the lower gear ratio is a little higher road speed. A solid 50 mph or so with the stock motor and trans as appose to 45 mph with the lower gears. The con is not as much umph off road. The other con is cost.
The pros to keeping it stock is money in the wallet and more grunt off...
I believe the unsafe issue is not it's handling or lack there of but that in military form it does not meet DOT standards for vehicle sales. No drivers and passinger air bags, no side impact protection, no sound protection (i.e. too loud inside vehilce) etc etc. These are the things that the...
It's not that easy being green
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold
Or something much more colorful like that
It's not easy being green
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things
And people tend to pass you...
