    New dash panel :-)

I love all the projects you do. I really liked the rebuild metal battery box you did. The hold downs looked great.

    Project time again at Zouts

I am very happy to see some sun and warm weather. Nice weather to get stuff done.

Would it be possible to swap 2.5 ton axles into an M923a1?

There is a lot more that goes into an axle's weight rating than the strength of the housing itself. A good example would be the difference in size between 2.5 ton hub bearings and 5 ton hub bearings. The difference is enormous-I don't know the relative sizes off the top of my head, but the 5...

I bought an NOS one that was pretty reasonably priced from either white owl parts in North Carolina or Eastern surplus in Pennsylvania

    The age old transmission question

You know the G749 series does not use the later G742 style of Rockwell axle?

    The age old transmission question

The standard thing to covert the M135/M211 (G749?) series to manual transmission is to take the entire CCKW transmission and transfer assy and make them work. This is a phenomenal amount of work. If it were my, I'd rebuild the Hydramatic.

    Rear main seal

Put your 3/4" on it. If that doesn't work, put the 1" on it. :) Remember, the bolt pattern on the flywheel is asymmetrical. It will only go on one way. Be prepared. C

    m35 brakes

When the vehicle is underway? Nearly none. I'd say if you're going more than maybe 5 mph, you will apply it, you will feel a mild lurch, a bad smell will occur and you will continue hurtling towards whatever obstacle you're going to hit.

    m35 brakes

Small issue: "Air over hydraulic" is like what an M105 has. Loss of air = total loss of brakes "Air assisted hydraulic" is what the M44 series has. Loss of air = loss of power brakes. That being said, when I got my first deuce, I drove it down my driveway with no air and tried to stop it so...

    Rear main seal

It's not that the fingers (levers) are under a lot of tension. As you bolt the pressure plate to the flywheel, the force of the pressure plate bottoming out on the disc forces the fingers down, or forwards, torward the engine. Conversely, as you unbolt the pressure plate, you'll see the...

m35a2c What does the "C" mean?

I don't have solid evidence in front of me, but I strongly, strongly believe that the alternator/generator plays no part in the C/D designation of the multifuel. The C series uses the first generation head gasket with separate fire rings and pressure relief slots. The D series uses the...

    Paint options

Rapco makes a premixed, correct shade Strata Blue in an Alkyd enamel. It's a simple, single stage paint, just thin it and shoot it. Everything about it is good for the most part: cheap, easy to shoot, very correct color, covers really well (it's a thick paint with heavy solids), etc. The...

HVLP tip size for Rapco paints

I've actually shot pretty much everything through their crappy guns and I have to say, I think they're very good guns. I have a $400 Sata that I barely use anymore. The HF cheapies are so cheap they're disposable. At my last job (the one that ended in 2013), we started doing some paint work...

    winch installs

I more or less copied Andy and Ken's rear winch idea but I built a mount for fairlead so the rope would exit beneath the crossmember, saving me from cutting my bed. Complete installation here: http://imgur.com/a/y8WKT
