HVLP tip size for Rapco paints

I think Rapco calls for a 1.8 tip on their paint. I've shot a lot of it with the standard $9.99 HF paint gun and I think they're a 1.4 or 1.5 tip. I just turned the pressure up a bit and it shot fine.

Official '15 Ga. Rally Multimedia thread

Ok, how's about some video? :) We had a bunch of people shoot video this year and we sincerely appreciate all the assistance we received, in terms of people willing to be interviewed, people willing to shoot video and people willing to let us use their vehicles. I have 2 videos initially...

Car trailer for 2 1/2 ton truck

To my knowledge, there is not a miliatary trailer that is a good fit for transporting a passenger car. Even if you accept the weight issues, you'll have trailer height issues, making the breakover angle an issue with any vehicle that's not truck level ride height. My buddies and I are all car...

    Possible duel circuit fix

    A. Forewarning: I'm probably going to merge this thread with an existing "catch all" dual circuit engineering thread, where people have discussed all the various way it might be possible to upgrade the single circuit system. See...

    12v AND 24v?

Ok, then it's safe to assume you've lost the 24V power source and that's why we're discussing 12V at all, correct? If it were me, I'd find a civilian 24V alternator and I'd replace the 12V alternator currently on the 318. That pretty much solves all your issues. If you want 12V power...

    12v AND 24v?

Let''s back up for a second. I assume the 318 engine has a civilian, 12V alternator on it, right?

    12v AND 24v?

Well, you have a couple choices: Get some sort of alternator or generator that puts out 24V and feed all your stock components 24V ...................... Or use the 12V alternator that your 318 is almost guaranteed to have and convert all the stuff on your vehicle (gauges, lights, etc.) to 12V.

    Uploading pics problem

I ran into this the other night. It would only let me do one at a time. Any more than that and it would show it was uploading them, get to 100% and then the upload window would close and there would be no images on the screen. Uploaded 5 or 6 pics this morning without issue.

    Looking at a '53 M108 Gasser

I'd just like to add that my numbers are based on the "crawling under a lot" system. A major restoration I'd estimate $20-$30K for. And my definition of "major restoration" is this: You're certainly welcome to pass along the assessments from this thread to the owner. My experience in the...

    Looking at a '53 M108 Gasser

:) Ok, so here's how I get there: I don't know when M108 production stopped, somewhere in the 1950's. So let's call it 1955 for conversations sake. It's 2015 now, so this is a 60 year old truck. The OP stated it hasn't run in at least 8 years and that it obviously has a lot of deferred...

    Looking at a '53 M108 Gasser

There's nothing on that truck that would scare me off, but I'm also smart enough to see $5-10K in work to get it up to snuff and that doesn't include restoration/cosmetic stuff. It's pretty solid and complete for it's age-still has the waterproof plug wires. Interesting it got the air horn...

    Start-up-Shut-down procedures?

Both turbos require the same treatment. One truck is just missing or never had the dataplate installed.

Man, I'd really like to have a closed cab CCKW. Really like those things.

    Statistics on Deuce ownership

Not really. Probably in the bowels of the Pentagon (or in the bowels of one of their servers) exists the info about how many M44 series trucks were surplussed, how many were written off for internal use (i.e. target practice), etc. But none of us will ever see this info. Again, they know but...

    My newest turd: Jeepsinker's M49A2

Now, in all honesty, this is a terrible example because there's no way of knowing if some civilian did this. I know I've seen upward paperclips on USMC trucks that were still in the service but I can't find the pictures right now.

    My newest turd: Jeepsinker's M49A2

That's a cool truck: I can't remember the last time I saw a multifuel that still had the 25A generator and external voltage regulator. Of the 35-40 deuces we've had, not a single one was still generator equipped. Other stuff: There are M44 fenders and there are M44A1/M44A2 fenders. This is...

    M108 deuce wrecker engine swap

    A. Now is the time to rebuild the steering box. They always need rebuilding and it's easy breezy with the engine out. B. Now is the time, with the engine out, to do all the miserable stuff like going through the injection pump to replace the hydraulic head o-rings and reseal the booster pump...
