A lot of people carry 5 gal of extra oil in a deuce. Just do yourself a favor and clean it up, then fire it up and see where the leak really is first instead of doing work you don't need to do. Most multifuel engines leak a little from the front seal, but they rarely leak badly. Oil lines are a...
Thinning it has little to do with the wear it causes, except that it does help some of the trash fall out of suspension.
The wear is caused by metals and carbon that are dissolved, for lack of a better term in the oil. These particles are so small that you can only get them out by distilling the...
Not the front seal, probably the injector pump oil feed line. Fill it with oil, wash it off, then have someone else crank it while you watch to see where it is coming from. Front seals don't just sh!t the bed all of a sudden, but oil lines do. The fan takes that oil and spreads it everywhere.
It was my deuce, and yes they did ask nicely. There was nothing compulsory about it. They flooded the Hmmwv out because it didn't have a fording kit. Once the water went over the hood, the engine sucked water, then the current pushed it off the road and out of sight. I'm sure they'll find it...
If you are asking if I burn used motor oil, the answer is no. I can't afford to have an injector pump failure when I'm 800- 1200 miles from home. I do burn mostly kerosene and diesel, and occasionally I burn some peanut or soybean oil, all very clean of course.
There are guys who do venture far...
It was in fair shape when I got it, but the brakes were poor. It wasn't falling apart, but all the things I listed HAD to be done, other than the air pack. I've never touched it.
It took me a week or two to do all that once I got it home, which was a 500 mile drive.
My truck was, and still is...
Stock exhaust. With or without earpro, I can't hear the truck when I turn it up. And there is no amp for the speakers, just the woofer. I used two 6.5" kickers in the cab corners and two 4" speakers down in the front footwell area that I still have to mount. Right now they are just stuck to the...
So this came up again day before yesterday. I actually got three phone calls, then a deputy showed up asking for help. They lost a Hmmwv over in Merryville trying to get to some trapped people. I had the deuce and a 931A2 ready to go when the event Coordinator came over the radio saying to hold...
The one I used is AM/FM, and digital media. Looks like a cd player but it isnt. No point because a cd would constantly skip while on the road.
I added a 50 amp Vanner equalizer to power the sound system, which does include one small woofer under the passenger seat. I don't need super gangsta...
And I forgot to mention, this all assumes your airpack is in good working order. It is a good idea to replace it, or buy and keep a new spare available. You should also completely flush the brake system when you are going through it. Do this after you have replaced the master cylinder and wheel...
Yes! Do ALL of the maintenance and brake system replacement before you ever drive it anywhere, then it is much easier to keep up with the small issues that crop up as they come along.
Here is what I did:
1: Pack all hubs, replace all wheel cylinders, front axle inner shaft seals, and boots.
2...
I understand a single exhaust stack on a jeep if you do any deep water fording, but certainly not two huge ugly ones.
There have been more than a few times that having an exhaust stack similar to the one used on the Hmmwv fording kits would have allowed me to not get stuck. Once that muffler...
I've been DD mine for years now. I had a small coolant leak once, which was a loose clamp, and the other day I lost the water pump belts ( napa belts with 10k miles on them) lost all three belts within two hours of each other. Replaced with Gates green stripe, good to go now.
I did have some...
The secret is to stop using the cork. Fill that keyway with gear oil specific rtv silicone. Had you been patient, you'd have noticed that next time you drove it, the hub would've been cooler. They always run a little hotter after being packed until everything gets seated again. I usually run...
