So the project of getting the floor done in the blazer continues! We have made all the parts needed to get the drivers floor done to the front of the back seat...we're using por-15 to coat these first...unfortunately the first coat we did wrong and it peeled off like wax paper!! Found out a...
Being a tech for decades I've seen a massive shift in the use of gaskets...most engines today only have valve cover gaskets and head gaskets...the rest is glued together...the big difference is the parts are machined aluminum and are very straight and thick...the steel pan will be the weak point...
The trans has built in a governor by line pressure to force the upshift if the rpms (speed technically) are to high...the downshift is weird with these since they have a vacuum pump that over rides the governor to allow a downshift...I always describe the governor and modulator in a constant...
You described the engine revving high after it downshifted to 2nd gear on a hill? Has it done this before on that hill? You loaded up in the bed or pulling anything? If it's something new, downshifting without a load on the engine going up a hill, then I'd look into the vacuum modulator on the...
So belts are done!! Had some good fun finding the correct bolts for the power steering pump and the passenger side alternator...I installed 2 new bolts in the power steering pump so now it's tight in the mount...the upper alternator tension bolt was wrong!! Dang guys again...if you look at the...
Well I'm usually good with parts people but the last 2 years pretty much every parts store has swapped out people several times...that goin on to the next part in the barn I'll need is the lower belt pulley...unfortunately it has rusted through at one spot so I need another!! I don't worry about...
Taking it to the store isn't far off!! I got the SF 97 yesterday and can go in for tags today!! Took about a month which is a record time for me. I think my main frustration comes from the parts store employees...it's gotten so bad that one said if these belts don't fit that there's now way...
Yes!! now I know what that fire thing is...I don't have them on either vehicle, there is a wire run from the front positive battery to the block on the firewall...big thing that did bother me is it is not fused and is probably 5 feet long...I am going to do a amp test on it with everything...
So I'm at a silly impasse...I read the TM to page 164 last night, found some great info on diag but no actual part numbers...got pretty tired and gave it a rest...I'm familiar with TMs since I have several gensets to keep running but can't seem to get to the part numbers at the end of each...
It's great you got it back!! It'll be new once you're done! You should have enough parts to get it done spot on too! If the antenna mounts are the ones that mount to the outside I know someone that's dieing to have an antenna on his blazer! We're making a list for the next trip up to help empty...
So glad ours isn't that bad...albeit it is bad but has good supports...replacing just the floor pans and rockers isn't horrible until you get into structure then it gets nuts!!

Tough to tell by the pic but the return line to the fuel tank might leak like that...it's a braided line that goes through to the tank held in place by a rubber grommet that can leak as well...a few more pics would help of the actual leak area...unless it's everywhere!
So the saga continues!!! Had the son change the oil filter...see pic...I have limited knowledge of non gas engines so I did what I've seen a bunch do to get these running...I bled the fuel filter first then cracked all the injector lines until fuel came out and it started!! The hilarious part is...
He's not talking about the 2 big bolts that bolt the starter to the block...there's a bracket that bolts to the front of the starter case then to the block...the block side is metric and the starter is standard size...the 2 main bolts are knurled up by the threads.

I laughed when I took it out and saw the fine thread...it was barely finger tight...my bet is they popped it in there to mess with the next guy that would try to use it!! It was a m8x1.00...I would have been playing for a while if you didn't tell me what was supposed to be there!! I have tons of...
Starter installed!! Was interesting trying to figure out how to fit this monster in between it all... I decided to lift the front spring with my jack to get room to fit through the axle and engine which worked very well...now for that rear bracket...there was a bolt in the spot where it should...
So we got at finishing up the front bumper and brush guard install tonight! Was crazy...had a tough time keeping those heads to stay in and not turn! Got them though and now it's on solid! I used my persuader to bend back the middle of the brush guard so now it's pretty straight! The last thing...
I guess I'm assuming since it comes off 2 inches it's not catching the inner edge of the shoe?? Maybe the shoes are not worn square and catching the shoe in the middle and stopping it from there!! That does happen for sure...I hope that adjuster isn't frozen and moves!! If that's stuck you'd...
I hear that!! These drums are pretty heavy!! I think semi truck guys have a drum lift to get them on and off easier...but it doesn't hurt to have an extra person there in case you get stuck under it...think of it like a car front brake rotor that has the pack bearings in it...they get a little...
