That is a quick way to test your solenoid. Another way to test the wiring going to the solenoid, is to splice into the light blue wire coming out of the glow plug control card box, add a short piece of wire and touch it to a ground. Go back a couple of posts where I gave you the link so you...
The piece I believe you are talking about is the glow plug resistor. It was used to drop 24v to 12v for the glow plugs. It's good yours is already gone and wired straight to 12V. You can search and find the details about the resistor in one of the threads. Did your solenoid start clicking...
I tried finding the link to the members page but couldn't. Here is a website that sells them, I think it might be his website. http://www.glowplugcards.com/gpd-2c-info-instructions
This is the housing for it and there is a cap on the end, when you pull the cap off you should see a card inside it. It should be tucked up under the dash, I let it hang down so you get an idea of its location.
Here is how to add a momentary switch that will activate the glow plug relay. You might want to look and see if your controller card is still installed since the light isn't even coming on.

Looks like it's the vacuum lines that are used to let the transmission know when to shift. There should be two lines going to that location, one above the other onto a black piece.
Also please don't use links to pictures, upload them to the thread. This can be done by clicking on the little...
This a great place to find the answers to a lot of issues with your CUCV. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?123199-CUCV-Helpful-Threads Scroll down and you will see the glow plug section that cucvrus is mentioning. To the left of your master cylinder is a solenoid, that is your glow...
Not sure what load it can handle, but I believe (others might chime in) that you would be better off running it straight from the battery. Then you can add a maxi fuse coming off the battery, then add in your extra fuse panel for your accessories.
Recovry, what wood did you use when your replaced the piece for the tailgate? I'm not a wood expert by any means, but is it from a board or plywood type?
Thank you for the pictures. That is a great setup with the boat tank. I like the idea of the quick disconnect to allow it to run dry for storage. Also I think I will steal your idea of adding the second tank, since I have on laying around. My box had the field mod for locking. It's just a...
It looks fine. If you have a multimeter at the house I would check the voltage across your front battery using the positive and negative terminal. If that is 12v, then move your ground to the body and see what it says there, should be 12v also. I'll try and remember to take a picture of that...
The front battery should only be 12 volts. Look on the firewall just above the glow plug relay, there should be a connector with two poles coming off it, that should also be a 12V location.
Quick update, ran a braided ground strap from the frame up to the generator frame where the other grounds are connected. Now it will crank like crazy and the lights aren't going off. Next I'll get the plugs replaced and check the cap and rotor and points.
