I'd go with WIX. Not a fan of Fram filters. Every Fram filter that I have seen cut open is just paper and is collapsed on itself. I run Wix filters in everything I got and have no problems with them.

Can you state if an item is high quality or a good item if you bought one (and they have multiple) or you bought one identical to what they are selling?
I'm interested in what you find out after removing the oil pan. If the magneto was that bad, it could be what caused everything to lock up. Which could be some good news for the rest of the engine.
