Ok, so ten more minutes and you can have the floor pan and trans top cover off, that way you can look inside and see what is going on. Most likely you just need some new bearings. You do have all the gears right?
David, shop around. I know I saw a rear deuce harness brand new one one of the surplus parts sites for $150 a couple weeks back, and a front harness that isn't an exact fit, but easily modified to work for about the same.
Nice hijack... Change all three of your fuel filters. One under your alternator, and two on the driver side of the block back by the firewall. All three available at napa. Part numbers are available in the " Deuce parts quick reference spreadsheet" in the stickies at the top of the deuce page.
Alright, I am going to accommodate as many of you fellas as possible on this first run. I need to be clear here though. These won't be free. You will pay what I pay plus the shipping charges, and the cost of the seal. I am not going to ship these without the seal installed because I don't want...
I could make a trip up there and paint it for you if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself, as long as you have a place to paint it and an air compressor. I can bring the paint. Real paint, not behr, and not CARC. Good ole PPG industrial paint. Holding up great on my truck and color matches...
Yeah, the chromoly really isn't necessary, but the machinist has a bunch on hand. The first ones will be made from chromoly, and the rest will be made from 1045. Of course the chromoly will be made available at a slightly higher cost for those that prefer it.
Just thought I would bring this to the top again. Was able to put these topics to good use last night while helping Fuzzytoaster change a tire on a 5 ton in the dark on a two lane road with no shoulder. Had the neon green reflective vest on, and decided to put some of my magnetic flashing...
There are some very detailed threads on this repair on here. Search "HH button fix" it really isn't that hard once you get in there. Just tedious. There are a couple of very small parts that can be a real pain in the butt to get back in the right place, and are easily lost if you drop them...
Pm me your address and I'll send you one when they are done. The first ones will be made from 4140 chromoly, because my machinist apparently has 5" round chromoly stock up to his eyeballs.
Doing prototyping right now. Will let you know when I have a finished product in hand. I will have 2 or more made on the first run so a few other people can have a go at it at the same time. Best to have more than one test vehicle at a time.
I have to head over to NDT's place first and drop off a trailer first, then convoy up there with him. Not sure what day I'm going, or if you want to go that far out of the way but you are welcome to tag along if you want.
Orren, it would not run at all if your HH button had popped off. Sounds like you have something sticking in the pump, or someone got something installed a bit out of time when they were doing pump work on your truck. You may also just have really bad injectors, or really low compression. Real...
