M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Same as the Eaton CTIS phone tech told me. I believe an LMTV CTIS controller could be used on an M939, but button layoit/orientation is flipped if you are mounting it same as original. I have not tried to communicate with an xMTV CTIS module yet.

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Yep, it happened. I dropped a 2' long 1/2" drive extension between the engine block and live starter B+ stud. Oil filter started hissing, engine ground harness glowed white hot through the convolute, and then vaporized the wires inside, leaving only insulation behind. It was like a harness of...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I like the way you write. Which fuelie's did you tweak? Sounds like just top one, or rear also? Your ABS module was probably over-volted.

    Crate Motor Questions

The one he is talking about is not a 2 stroke Detroit. It is a 4 stroker, nick-named a ""fuel-sipper".

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

You guys are no fun. I was liking the too many amp thing. Given your climate, I would go buy 2 new group 31 batteries, update to a modern gear reduction starter, and be done with it. Batts are $100ea and starter can be had for about $250. Starter pulls 50 amps less current, has consistent...

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

I'd like to buy a vowel.

Got pulled over today. Smoke Issue

Most of the technology statements here are incorrect.

Got pulled over today. Smoke Issue

Somebody probably just has it turned up too far. Adjust fueling to factory spec and as long as the engine is healty in all other regards, it will clear up. They don't smoke when running correctly. Slight haze on hard acceleration is the most you should see. Any more than that is just wasting...

    Just picked up my M925

Ha! That's awesome! Egg on my face. Well bring it anyway. Now we have something to laugh about.

    Just picked up my M925

Congrats! I'm thinking about organizing an off road rally this summer if you are not scared to get it dirty. Let's see if the winch works.

Conventional Alternator Bracket for NHC-250, Cummins p/n

OK. Thanks and sorry. If somebody has the right part number, please post it. I have tried to look, but it se ms the alternators were installed at the truck plants, not the engine plants, so that means it will be a Kenworth, Freightliner, etc part number, not a Cummins. But Cummings may have...

Hi Derrick, that Honda is an expensive engine. Any chance you can use a belt driven hydro pump on the engine, or a PTO off the trans?

    5 ton air lockers?

Not sure they can. The only relief may be that you don't have to buy 3. How much are the ARB 2.5T air locker units? $1000? When I developed the 8.3L A/C compressor bracket kit, I brought it to market for less than half of the Kenway / Red Dot kit. Nearly 1/3, actually. My plan would be...

    5 ton air lockers?

5t air locking axle assembilies are $1000 each in the market, sold typically only in lots of 3 and at a 5.88 ratio. So, the number to beat is $1000 per.

    Cargo cover question

I think those straps are seperate short pieces that attach with a single screw into the bow corner? They make look broken but loop back on themselves? Can probably just get a few replacements if need be? I have yet to roll mine up on the sides, but heard it may be easier to do using a long...

    33si alternator installation question

M35A2-AZ, nice job on the mount! That's a beautiful solution.

Air dryer freeze up and other problems

I think the military used that same alternator on nearly any vehicle that was not dual-voltage. Recommend to keep your pulley until you have the new one in amd working. I think the 250 engines have an alternator pulley that has more stand-off to it than normal, so if you meed to have a machine...

Air dryer freeze up and other problems

Your truck should have abs, and therefore an air dryer by the mid axle. I serviced mine once, and I have not drained a single drop of water from any drain after. I actually gave up on opening them because it seems to be 100% effective. Everybody will tell me that is terrible, and that is...
