Air dryer freeze up and other problems

Low cost replacement part @ NAPA. Volt adjust screw is under an Allen head cover screw by the wire connection cover area if I remember right.

Air dryer freeze up and other problems

It is not charging. 25.6V is standard voltage for full charged batteries in good condition. Anything over 25.6V is charging.

Air dryer freeze up and other problems

Not really. It is just making a badly designed system correct like it should have been from the beginning. If they would have placed the battery disco switch elsewhere in the truck like other vehicle makers do, this would not be such an issue. By upgrading the starter and alternator to modern...

Air dryer freeze up and other problems

It is a stupid design. Nothing should be that sensitive. Should have just been a single ignition switch that does both. Alternator replacement with anything other than stock aleviates this issue completely. I shut my truck off in the "wrong" order now just because I can with no over-volt...

Air dryer freeze up and other problems

You're in OH? That is GR's and a few other's stomping grounds. You'll need to be changing your avatar pic every 3 weeks, it is a requirement of the OH members.

Air dryer freeze up and other problems

Truck was likely shut down in wrong switch order, and zapped the alternator and ABS module. Welcome to the club. Your alternator is probably not working anymore. I sell replacements that do not have the failure characteristics of the stock one, for reasonable prices. You can also get a...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

No, I've been too busy looking for an SAE #1 clutch disk, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. Your cover came off easily because you had the hood and radiator already off. Most people will be doing this on an assembled truck.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Just per the service manual. There are timing marks on the side of the pump, you find TDC on the crank damper, and between the two of them, you simply pull the injection pump driven gear from the pump shaft. It is a tapered fit. You are not pulling the gear off and holding it in your hand or...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

You don't have to pull the front cover to do so. He did to reseal it since it was seeping. Look at the alternator on that MoJo! Holy space amps!

Upgrading a M923A2 for Fire Department Usage

You're lucky they stopped the mom jokes.

Upgrading a M923A2 for Fire Department Usage

Ha! The reason I bought a 925(A2): "Big Truck = Big Stuck. You need a suitable sized winch."

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

You only have to remove the small round injection pump gear cover which the tachometer cable attaches to. Few ways to advance from 8 to 16 degrees, depending upon if you trusted it was 8 to begin with. Aftermarket makes governor spring kits. Full fuel rack travel limiting adjusting nut is...

Upgrading a M923A2 for Fire Department Usage

I greatly apologize. I have seldom had a PM slip by. I will respond in detail tonight. Apology again. Even if you don't get it from me, anything is better than the one that you have now. -CM

Upgrading a M923A2 for Fire Department Usage

Best thing to do with the alternator is to take it off and put it in your weekly recycle bin to be smelted down in China into Christmas ornaments.

    M923A0/A1 vs. M923A2? (Possible Future M923A0 owner)

Bring a cat and a spool of string.

    M923A2 Cold Start

We test starters all the time at -40F, and one time I put an open top container of diesel 15W-40 oil in the test cell also. After sitting overnight, I turned the container over, and the oil did not even run down the edge of the jar. It completely stayed as a solid block in the container...

Heater blower motor Mod with MRAP blower

Wow, this a is a total win! Nice work. If the motor is the same RPM, then the gain may be near zero. But, I would have hooked it up as-is and checked out the airflow with the impeller and hosuing it came with. I can't believe it pulls 42 amps @ 24v. That is a silly amout of power for just a...

    M923A0/A1 vs. M923A2? (Possible Future M923A0 owner)

I don't know if I would go as far to say the 855 is a million mile engine. Not that any MV is ever going to make it 1 million miles. I don't even know if anybody has 100,000 on theirs here, or anywhere else. I think the Detroit Series 60 was one of the first mass production production motors...
