Also, your draw height depends on the size tank you are using. My 600 gallon tanks collect 4-6" of water in the bottom fairly quickly just from condensation. The smaller the tank, the less quickly and badly they collect water.
Think more along the lines of: 30 or 40 mesh screen filter, 10 or 12 micron filter with water separator, 5 or 6 micron filter, then a 2 micron. You'll get longer filter life and better serviceability this way. Whatever filters you decide to use, it is good practice to always have a mesh screen...
Sounds like an electric lift pump would be a good investment for you ( even with the broken pushrod). No reason you can't run an electric lift pump and a mechanical lift pump together. Neither pump should override the other, but it could help keep you from getting stranded.

Yes, find an overflow bottle and plumb it to the overflow line. If your line is solidly plugged, cut it above the plug point and plumb the overflow tank hose in there.

You could build one if you have a torch, welding machine, and a water hose. Use some 1"cold rolled solid bar and heat and bend it, flaw ten the ends and drill holes, then temper it yourself or have it tempered.
