    Power steering pump

HMMWV PS pump It's easy to bleed the system. Put the front end up on jackstands, make sure the reservoir is full and turn the steering from lock to lock and hold it at each end for a few seconds. Make sure the reservoir stays full or you'll just be sucking more air into the system. You may...

    HMMWV accessories/mods?

If I had to list the best mods to do to your truck here's what I'd recommend: 1) Dual pull rear brake upgrade 2) Heavy airlift rear bumper 3) High back seats 4) Radial tires / 12 bolt wheels 5) S3 protective control box These things add comfort and reliability to your vehicle. Kurt KG6KMJ

    HMMWV Starter

Hey guys, this is s standard GM starter from a civy truck. The blocks are the same so they'll work but they're half the size of the military starter.

    Exhaust gasket

I was turned onto this mod by one of the local M151 guys after I told him that the manifold gasket on mine had just blown out. It turns out that Harley Davidson makes an exhaust crush gasket that's the exact same diameter as the exhaust pipe on the M151 only it's about 1/8" thick. I dropped...

Quick Question. Sensor on drivers side head, very front. What is it.

Yes, that's the sensor for the water temp gauge.

    weird fluid oil leak

You didn't mention whether your vehicle is Army or USMC. The Army HMMWVs without the fording option have a "duckbill" drain on the bottom of the air cleaner that will allow fluids to drip out. The USMC vehicles were mostly equipped with fording kits that put a rubber cap on that outlet port...

    HMMWV shelter air conditioner manual?

Does anyone on the list have a copy of the TM for the air conditioner that was mounted in the front of the HMMWV shelter? I have 3 that are 9000 BTU AC/heaters that are 115v single phase units that I'd like to find a TM for. Two of them will be excess if anyone on the San Jose area is...

    led dash bulb size

LEDs are available in 10-30v versions that are usable in both military and civy vehicles. The BA9 refers to the base size which is 9mm in this case. The S or D indicates either single or dual contact bases. This same lamp is usable in the turn signal switch but I did run into a problem in an...

    HMMWV Shelter air conditioner TM?

Does anyone on the list have a copy of the TM for the 115vac single phase air conditioner that was mounted in the HMMWV shelters? Please PM if you do. I have 3 units if your interested. They're too heavy to ship but could be picked up in San Jose, Ca. Thanks, Kurt KG6KMJ

    M1101 wiring headache

Trailer plug wiring Most of us just tie the license plate light into the running light circuit. You've gone through quite a bit to get this thing going and it's a a perfect reason to change out the 24v bulbs with 10-30v LEDs. That way you can pull the trailer with either a military or a civy...

    Deuce High beam issue

I was talking about the wiring to the headlamps. Lot's of people think the wires to the lamps are 16, 17, and 18 when they're 17, 18 ans 91. A very common mistake and if you cross connect either 17 or 18 to 91 it's blows the breaker.

    Deuce High beam issue

The 3 wires going to the headlights are 17, 18, and 91. There is no #16. If you have anything with power on it going to that wire that's your problem, 91 is GROUND. Here's the diagram for the Master Light Switch...

    M35 no lights

Test Probe I found a nice, long (10") sharp pointed probe at Harbor Freight pretty cheap and installed a 10-30v LED festoon light in it so that I can use it on either 12 or 24v vehicles. The extra length has come in handy on several occasions but I did put a piece of shrink tubing over about...

    Regulator trouble

One of the few miracle tools I've found to loosen stuck parts is Kroil. It's advertised as the oil that creeps and it does what it says. I little pricey but so much better than Liquid Wrench or any of the other penetrating oils out there it's easily worth the money. Super stuff!! I...

    Bill Watson

I met Bill one day at the MVPA convention back in Charlotte in 1984. He, Leonard Grove and I drove out to Delks Surplus and spend a good portion of the evening digging through the mountains of stuff we found there. It was the highlight of the convention for me. When Leonard passed away Bill...

    PRC-77 Squelch Issue

In receive mode (squelch on) the A55 audio module sends the 150 hz tone back to the A54 module to open the squelch relay. You might want to pop in a different A55 and see what happens. Kurt KG6KMJ

    Crazy battery disconnect problem

Here's a link to a manufacturer of battery quick disconnects. http://www.wirthco.com/battery-quick-disconnect-caps-p-59-l-en.html Years ago I made the center link using these connectors so that all I had to do was to remove the battery box cover and unsnap it. This kills all power to the...
