After all that, the only "spare" items I run in my truck is a can of ether and a few zip ties. Only thing that has even remotely acted suspicious in the 1 year and 4000 miles so far is the fuel shut off solenoid, and the zip ties can hold that in the run position. You guys had some good ideas...
I pulled the glow plug. It looks like new. I need to confirm it works, but it ohmed out ok. The wick looks new, but was bone dry. I'm going to pour some fuel down the glow plug hole as a prime to saturate the wick, and try it again. 5F outside right now, let's see what happens... I have...
So I have new updates. The heater will not light off, and I have fuel flowing out of the regulator block, but it is not flowing out of the exhaust, even after several attempts of 2 minute start attempts each. I need to pull the copper injection tube and the glow plug assembly.
So after...
Got the fuel injection solenoid working. SW had 2 leads reversed on the electronics board. I didn't see detailed connection about this in the TM, but I reversed 2 that could easily be swapped mistakenly, and it atarted clicking, double rate on high, so I think that part is ok now.
Should be...
Be patient, I am going throught it all now. I didn't want to be an expert on this, but it is heading that way. The fuel metering block has a heating element with a snap type thermostatic switch in series with it. The thermostat is supposed to open at 70F. It looks like that may not be...
Those batteries are shot. Most batteries will live about 5 years. The open circuit voltage (OCV) you reported they are dead as they sit. 12.0V is heavily discharged, in the range of 80-90%. 12.8V is a full charged lead acid battery.
The only true test of battery health is a load test...
Anybody have experience working with the SW 60k BTU fuel fired heaters? I have one that won't light. Power and fans are ok, but when held in start position, I don't see or feel the fuel solenoid clicking, and smoke comes from the fuel pressure regulating chamber, seems there is a heater in...
OP is looking for a block heater to aid in cold starting. I don't think an oil pan heater will do it? From a principle standpoint, it should heat the oil pan and the oil within it, only. The only way that heat could heat the engine block or coolant would be if that heat could travel from the...
Where is this 10 degree ether limit coming from? The factory ether system started my 8.3 at -18F ambient temp January 2014 with no external heaters applied.
I just clicked the hyperlink in the article I wrote, which is referenced above, and it still works and takes you to the NAPA website and displays the part, price, pic, etc....for the 8.3L. I do this because in typing and restyling part numbers, errors can occur. The article I authored includes...
That would work, but I think the dumps themselves are rare, and then to find somebody parting one out, even more rare. The pivoting roller mech is a mechanical leverage adder for the first few inches of cylinder travel, as the cylinders are sitting almost flat and the vertical push up on the...
Not very exciting, but I did take this pic this specifically for this thread. My 9 idling in McDonald's parking lot this morning with MI snow, just after dropping the kids off at elementary school with it.
Happy New Year all. In wanting to add a dump conversion to my M925A2, I was ready to pull the trigger on one of the C&C scissor kits, but I have just seen too many complaints of slow speed and disappointment in lift capability. Also, WildChild467 pointed out to me that the scissor mechanism...
If you have driven a "semi", then this should brake much the same way, as the system is about identical. We can give you benefit of the doubt, and suspect something is wrong, which at that point you will need to start reading through the operation and service manuals or pay to have it...
It won't be as easy as that, because all your pressure and volume will bleed off through the winch bypass in the control valve. Also, the 925 hydraulic pump does not operate when in "drive" and at a stop, so not sure when you need hydraulic power to your trailer and when not.
Maybe easier to...
