I'm not planning on taking my heart out and laying it across the battery posts!:-D we could debate this issue for ever and come to the same conclusion.
But your point towards safety is still well taken!
And not a single person can point out another person who has been killed by electrocution by truck batteries[thumbzup].. wisdom passed on by others is very valuable, and we all have lots to learn in life. BUT...not everything everyone tells you is fact. Never the less, really glad you wear all...
I have to say, I'm not normally a huge fan of modifying Mvs different than original. I believe to each their own of course ... BUT...Yours is awesome. You made modifications without loosing the look of a MV. It actually looks like it was never modified if you didn't know the difference. Looks...
All your PPE except the gloves, is protection against acid injury not electrocution. Anything in life is possible, but in this case I believe very unlikely. Again ive felt tingles when sweaty many times, especially like on a forearm, but that's about it. Never the less, good to encourage working...
Definitely need to take PPE serious, but after all these years working on trucks for a living, never saw or heard of anyone being electrocuted. If there was much danger of that, the Company I work for would make us wear low voltage gloves for sure!
Oh I know you weren't. I was just stating for those who do the admonishing that I did research before they could say "Did you look?"" LOL. We absolutely should research before posting a question but also should feel free to have a conversation. Just my 2 cents worth. Thanks for the replies guys...
Dug around some more and found the post you were referring to. It didnt say he bought it from GL, but later I found where someone else in his thread said they did. Thanks a lot. Funny though my 2 trucks came from the same guard unit.
I've been on here long enough to know to search first other wise you'll wish you hadn't asked the question. I did come up with many posts about dyed fuel but none where the truck came with it. If I missed the post sorry!!
Also google searched it to with not much except the Gov is tax exempt...
Just brought home a M931 that I bought from GL. Was wondering if anyone ever picked up a truck that had dyed fuel in it? Does the military use dyed fuel?
Looking in these 2 (full) tanks, sure looks pretty red. As you know diesel is brownish/gold usually. I have used dyed fuel before in farm...
Well finally got around to taking apart and cleaned but no deal. O-rings looked great but Purge valve port was very corroded. Aluminum gets almost dusty when badly corroded. Cleaned with emory cloth but still would not seal. Replaced with rebuilt air dryer from Fleet Pride. $223. Works great...
Your right about a long pole, the dinky would be further back. But I didn't mean a short pole, I meant a large pole. Poles back when that trailer was new were small compared to today. Poles are very heavy depending on the class of pole and that body doesn't look heavy enough to carry a "large"...
Maybe your right, we carry the transformers in the trucks now. Still could not have been a large pole, but back when it was new, I'm sure small, maybe even telephone poles.
Yup, we call them pole dinkys. Although have never saw one with a bed on it. Ours are just steel frame with bolsters. Like 73M819 said would bolt a lunette eye to the butt end [fat end] of the pole, the trailer would be chained to the pole. Although our trailers would carry 4-5 poles this way...
Cool truck. Not sure where you can buy filters in Belgium, but lots of places here in the states on the net. Welcome to the site and good luck with your truck.
What Doghead said.
The tail wagging usually comes from a tail heavy trailer, or not enough tongue weight. Have had this problem with a dump trailer that's axles were to far forward. Moved them 6" to the rear and much better. I think an old rule of thumb was 10% tongue weight of load. Usually I...
