I put a solid boot on the drivers side by myself a few months ago with no problem. I kept expecting something after reading these kind of threads.
One of my students just a few minutes ago put the passenger side on by himself. I think the solid boots are easier to install. Plus, you get to...
Have you pulled the hub plate off to make sure it is not a bearing/brake issue? With the axle shaft not turning the bearings and brakes are all that can make noise.
If they check out ok, then it could be all kinds of things inside the knuckle area. Is the knuckle boot solid and not letting...
RE: Re: RE: A few deuce questions before purchase
Hey Randy,
You will see a lot of familiar faces around here.
Here are a few of the "options" you have to choose from. I think you know this, but figured maybe you don't:
dropside bed: Can be very good for loading with a fork lift or hauling...
OD Iron has new cylinders and rebuild kits at great prices. You can always watch E-Bay too. There are 6 new cylinders on there right now at $106 total.
$75.00 for one of those new M35A1 harness on E-Bay sold by KCGonzo.
$25.00 for a 25 amp generator to 60 amp alternator conversion kit form a fellow SS member.
$50.00 for a new M813 rear harness from Frontline. Comes with a standard trailer plug already wired in.
New wires and Packard fittings...
I have my 1952 Gasser M35 in my Auto Tech class for my students to learn on and get experience on something bigger than a regular vehicle. I wired the entire truck with new wires everywhere. I had a bad used solid state blinker box, so the blinkers have never worked.
I installed another used...
You are using the newer solid state flasher box, right?
I would look at your blinker arm itself. Here is why. You are getting left and right blinker and both brake lights. The wires, flasher and lights are working. The only thing that is different when you put it in flasher is the turn...
The CAF and the town of Temple, Texas do an airshow every May. I have never had a chance to attend this particular show, but I always figured once you see the CAF do their "TORA, TORA, TORA" show, you have seen it all. I have seen it at other shows.
Then Sarge here on SS convinced me I needed...
RE: brake
As far as the actual replacement. Unbolt the brake master cylinder from the booster and slide it forward a little. You can do this without kinking the brake lines if you are careful.
Mark or label or take a picture of the hoses for the hydroboost. Undo them and then undo the 4...
Put card board or plywood in front of your radiator too. The pointy parts of the winch will put a hole in a radiator real fast.
Basically, the hardest part is getting all the bolts to line up right with that big thing hanging on your engine hoist. Don't tighten anything up until all the...
RE: What
Are you just wanting it to go to a good home, or sell it?
Houston and back is a $50 trip for me now days. Which is what I would offer you for it. But, I can't see $100 in something I will have to replace pretty soon. That make sense?
RE: Washing the duece?
You wash your truck? Hmm, never thought of that.
Actually, I just did my once yearly wash of the M715 last weekend. Parade season is coming up. It will get washed again next April whether it needs it or not. The Gasser will probably have the same schedule once it is...
The blinker flasher bolts right in where the external regulator used to be on older M35 cabs. I thought I had found a secret mounting spot when I put mine there a few months ago while builidng up my Gasser. It is a lot easier to get to compared to the lower inner fender. Since then, I have...
Get one of those non contact infrared thermometers. They are great for checknig brakes, hubs, difference between cylinders, etc..., not just heaters. Measure the temp of the hoses going to the heater core. One should be real close to whatever engine temp you have at the time. The other...
