Break-in oil will not cause any issues so don't be concerned about using it. A fluids change is always done on any machine that is new to me. I'll give it a test run on the existing fluids (assuming the pass the sniff test) but soon after that, everything gets changed and the rest testing...
The exhaust, I just TIG’d it back together. It looks horrible but TIG isn’t a process that likes dirty material. Had cracks to run out and holes to fill in.
The problem as I see it is the fasteners are undersized for the load on them. I’m going to try a longer bolt with a spacer in hopes the...
Very nice!
Keep an eye on the exhaust bolts on the back of the engine. They have a tendency to break and if not caught quickly it breaks the exhaust where it connects to the muffler. I'm dealing with that issue now on a machine. Its not fun to fix.
And I have one more in the que with the...
If the oil looks good then run it. Get it hot and get it loaded.
Keep an eye on the oil level.
The most important thing is to run it and make it work so everything runs in correctly.
Don't worry about crankcase pressure for now.
+1 on what Kurt reports. I find the sound from the 1030 to be less noticeable in the house. The 802 has a lower frequency sound that goes through walls better where the 1030 has a higher frequency sound (due to the 3 cylinders vs 2) and that shift is just enough to make it less noticeable when...
55 gallon drums here. Biocide treated in the drums and a little ATF or BioDiesel added when used in the equipment. Use off road stuff so I don't rotate it through the on-road vehicles. Got tractors and an excavator in addition to generators that keep the fuel moving.
Wetstacking is a thing but it doesn't happen in 5 minutes. It takes tens of hours of running with zero load to be a problem. As you bring on some load the time it takes to become a problem gets longer and longer.
If your water heater cycles a couple times a day wetstacking may NEVER be a...
I expect they are bonded in the main panel. Depending on the panel design there is a bonding screw that would be put in the neutral bar that will connect it to the frame of the panel. You won't necessarily see a jumper between the neutral and the ground buss bars.
Its a balance between velocity/temperature and back-pressure.
A couple of items not mentioned here is you want the exhaust line to slope AWAY from the generator. You will want well insulate the piping to keep condensation to a minimum.
If you go through the roof, you will want to set a TEE in...
Oh, the other thing is its out of sight when its being stored. Buying the cable and connectors was like $500. I'd be nervous to put it on a reel out in the open.
I think its a lucky fluke. I bought a generator recently that included load cabling would never fit in one of those boxes!
Maybe 25' would but not much more. I'll have to snap a photo of that cable next time I'm over there.
I have 100' of SOOW 6/4 cable that I layer into one of the tool boxes on the trailer. It fits perfectly. I weave it so I can pull the generator end out and connect it without removing the entire string of cable. That allows me to pay out as much of the load end cable as I need to make the...
Go slow and make sure you don't have other problems.
When you get known good batteries in there see if it will bump over with the dead crank switch.
Before doing that see if you can spin the engine over by hand.
OK. High probability the computer has a problem. They use a big jump box to try and start the units. Since they couldn't get the hours off the screen it means the display didn't light up when they tried to jump it.
