    Generators and Amateur radio

Used to be "Survival Net" Sunday nights on 75m but it was qrmed off the air by a bunch of juvenile fools a couple of years ago. Never heard anyone talking about generators on 40m.

    Steel Soldiers migration 12/9/19

Complete honesty here....not a fan of the new format. This has happened on three other sites I frequent and not at all happy with it. Also, What happened to the "stickies" at the top of each forum? EDIT: Disregard , Found the "pinned" posts.

How long to warm up 803a before 75% load?

Thanks....that sounds very reasonable and I will adopt that as my new procedure.

How long to warm up 803a before 75% load?

Thanks for the replies gents! I normally do warm my sets up before applying a load but was curious as to performance while cold......now I know...it bogs.:-(

MEP-802A and MEP-803A coolant overflow cap

How long to warm up 803a before 75% load?

One of my 803a sets bogs badly to the point of stalling when resistive load of 75% is switched in after about two minute warm up. When first starting,it seems like it has low compression and takes several seconds to fire up and come up to speed. I understand that there is a delay to build oil...

Mep-803a motor locking up at 0 and 180deg

I don't know the bolt size but for the minor difference in price, I'd go with a grade 8 bolt. Better hard than too soft in this case. Hope your removal goes smooth.

Mep-803a Fuel or Electrical problem. Will Not Trip.

Ok, thanks I get that, and know your operation purposes with the testing and all but as you state, its the controls that put the limits on the output.....and thats what a lot of people try to push( and frequently break) instead of operating the sets with a comfortable margin of reserve capacity...

Mep-803a Fuel or Electrical problem. Will Not Trip.

Maybe its just me, and maybe I just don't get it, but why are some people always trying to push their generators to the breaking point? I understand that these sets are rugged but why purposely try to break them? I see this same mentality with side by side owners too. They buy a vehicle for...

    MEP-802A/803A and biodiesel

In a worst case SHTF scenario, most human consumable fats/oils will be used as food just for the calories. It's unlikely you will be finding much bio diesel around. I'd stick with regular diesel and just treat and store a lot of it.

MEP-003a At what point do you just trust these things???

Agree, manual/s in paper form, not electronic access. I'd add a can or two of contact cleaner and applicable fuses to the list also.

    MEP-802/803 fuel return improvements

Ok, my experiences have taught me different. You can't go wrong with the anti seize, you'll be glad you applied it.

    MEP 802A Fix-up Thread

And be sure it is the "NON CHLORINATED" type. It should say non chlorinated on the can.

    MEP-802/803 fuel return improvements

I think you made a mistake putting back the original bolts into aluminum rivnuts. For all the work you did, you should have used all stainless replacement hardware. They are available from a couple of different sources and not expensive. You will get galvanic corrosion between plated steel...

    LOOK! Jackpot! :)

Excellent advice ^^^^^^^^^^^. I agree 100% And try to store them in a reasonably humidity controlled area if you can to prevent moisture from swelling them.
