Most prototypes get cut up by the manufacturers. My prototype HMWWV escaped this fate as some South Bend scrap yard didn’t follow instructions…. It didn’t pass an airdrop test however.
Ask your local Sherwin Williams for some KemLustral wrought iron flat black stock no. F65B50, it's Alkyd enamel and has the perfect CARC like flatness.

Random thoughts: A hot water pressure washer will help remove poorly applied paint. Are you going back to a Viet Nam impression? If so CARC is the wrong color and texture.
Most of us over here are abandoning expensive CARC and going with water based acrylics.
Once a driveshaft tube is bent or has a kink in it, it’s hopeless to straighten it. Even if you get it close, these spin so fast that the vibration will damage carrier bearings.
