In that case, I'd rebuild the old cylinder after doing the swap and keep it around as a spare. Then the truck won't be down while you're looking for parts and working on the old cylinder.

That's backwards; they made it so you always use 6x6 in low range. It's easy to change that, though. I just wish that the driveline was strong enough to use reverse in low range without breaking stuff.

Was there ever an MWO to add interlocks to prevent engaging reverse and low range at the same time? If so, have y'all seen the kits out there for sale?

That stinks that they don't sell the rebuild kit any more. I see that there's a copy of the parts diagram with the seals highlighted in the sprag thread linked to above. The deuces have a smaller exhaust pipe diameter than the M939 series 5-tons. I think it's about 3.5" diameter, vs. the 4" diameter exhaust on my M923. The cap would melt, too, if it got hot. I suspect that after a long drive, I'd need to let the exhaust tip cool off before putting the plug in...

I got the Caplug samples and tried them out today. Part number T-502 fit very nicely inside the end of the pipe. As an experiment, I pulled the emergency stop to keep the engine from actually starting and then cranked it for a moment, and the caplug popped right out and landed a few feet away...
