Heh been stuck to the axles in the wrecker (before I had the recovery equipment or new rear winch cable). M923a2 had been buried past the headlights.
Get the tracks! Nope, he sank too haha.
That made for a long night. If either winch had good cable it would have been better. That being...
Huh, basically a powered dolly that is fixed to the truck frame. Removable when needed for lift towing or lifting heavy off the rear of the truck.
Do you remember how it connected to the truck frame?

Oh and great input y'all. Even though shooting down one idea y'all are giving great reasons for it and other ideas, much appreciated

Haven't played around with tow dolly's much but have seen how much of a pain in the ass it is to back them up with another trailer on them hahaha.
wcuhillbilly theres a thread on here where someone installed a Cummins 400 with a Eaton Fuller 13 speed? in a m819. Used the factory engine offset...
I've only seen 1 m819 for sale and it was on the other side of the US haha.
Doesn't the level wind significantly reduce the required distance for the fleet angle on the winch cable? The stock setup locates the winch right behind its roller fairlead. If I moved the winch to behind the cab and...
Most of what I do with the truck is hobby related. Might get some work setup at a few of the local offroad areas but the truck is not a main source of income for me. One of the big reasons why I bought an MV (m35a2 was first, replaced by the m816) is for an expedition rig. A wrecker bed is not...
Another Option instead of making the bed removable, would be to copy the 5th wheel capability of the m819. Thinking that might be easier to accomplish. So basically take Zebedee's wheelbase stretch idea
Relocate the rear winch to just behind the cab and using rollers to guide the cable out...
Thanks. The 395's work great on the wrecker and are only about 2" smaller diameter than the 14"s on yours. Cruises down the highway at 55mph, 2000rpm with the .78 overdrive and handles the weight of the truck well both on and offroad.
Weather is starting to hint at warming up so almost time to...
Gotta clarify a few things on your tcase.
The T138 (stock for the m809 series) is not an air shift, its a sprag. It uses air to engage the sprag in either forward or reverse, and the sprag determines when to engage the front axle. It's known to be a very strong tcase.
If you want 4x6...
Slow down, not guaranteed that you need to pull the heads yet yall are jumping the gun.
Pull the valve covers and measure the length of each valve. Rotate the engine over so every valve is measured when it's open, and when it's closed. If one is shorter than the others than that valve is bent...
Could just make a copy of the reinforcements and add them to the rear section, no need to remove the crossmember. Already have 40 large rivets to remove for the air brake conversion (once it warms up) so have no interest in removing more.
Any other downsides to relocating the rear axles?
Part...
Forum won't let me load the pic but don't think there will be a clearance issue with the rear winch if the axles are moved back on my m816.
Will be pulling the rear axles/suspension out this spring to install a locker in the middle axle, can do a test fit of the axle relocation at that point...
Quick adjustment on the fuel to turn it down some or just keep an eye on it and adjust your right foot accordingly. 1200F is max when working hard (loaded, hills,...) For normal driving you want to be lower than that.
Just some info so it can be found easily by others. The WIX airfilter 546664 (smaller filter used in the aftermarket kit) is rated for 949.42 CFM.
Can't find the requirements on the NHC 250 but for the more powerful NTC 270 it calls for 825 cfm at 2100rpm, NTC 335 calls for 850 cfm at 2100rpm...
