Can you provide *any* reference of a CCKW being called that? Its NOT a 'deuce' nor a 'Jimmy'. GM produces DOZENS of vehicles for the serivce... is a Chevy G506 a 'Jimmy'? It was made by Chevrolet, a Division of GM. Yellow Coach and Cab was a division of GMC, part of GM. It wasn't till late...
That looks like a G506 (Chevy) bed. If you have door mounted mirrors you should have civvy guages also.
If you post the frame SN that would help.
Few minor issues also... you seem to have 9x20s (M35) tires? Your drivers side engine panel is off a Chevy, also.
Engine shot would be cool.
I...
The axles are common for trucks up till the 60s or so. I would start at the lockout manufacturers web site and e-mail them. Just look up the model of the axle and ask them.
I have seen 353's with lockouts... but not sure who made them.
That looks like a good start... all depend on the engine.
Its really hard to balance value/price... beds are a BIATCH to find (but are out there.. plus one guy is making his own). But the expense of getting the engine running, or 'correct' can sink $2-3k.
Full rebuild kits are out there, but...
Please don't ban me for being honest:
How about the 'alte hess' just BE QUIET and NOT POST drivel in a thread they obviously DON'T want to participate in???
I think that answering similar questions is good because that will inevitably bring up MORE questions that are new. If the Alte Hess...
I remember seeing an He111 at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (Avoca) airport in the 90's. It needed paint, and IIRC it was a Spanish AF one (could be wrong, but I know lots of 109s that are around now are Spanish AF models.. not many German aircraft survived).
I also agree that you gotta bring the...
A remote location would work if you did things like in the UK.. rent a tank, team building for corporate events etc. There a lots of ways to make money, but getting that first $1 is the hard part.
I don't think a museum by itself, without a benefactor or patron/sponsor is going to last long...
I really don't see a lot of Chevy trucks around. They are out there, but when I go to MV shows they don't seem to show up. I was looking at a Chevy and had to pass due to funds.. but the big ones are GAS TANK, Bed, Spare Tire Carrier. Most sheet metal is the same as the CCKW (not identical...
Incorporating a 501(c)(3) is a no brainer. Write up some bylaws submit the paperwork to the IRS (and don't forget your STATES non-profit laws).
Buying a used manufacturing plant is iffy... you would also inherit and soil/asbestos/electrical code etc etc issues that the original owner may have...
ITS A KRYLON REBUILD! RUN! Its a straight GL truck... no title? $2500 final offer. That paint is gonna flake off when the rust under it does to.
Look at the overspray... if the seller doesn't fess up to it then he's hiding even more.
I love these quotes.. how the heck do you know the condition of an engine by sound or visual? Ok, its not missing a piston but whats the injector look like? Bearing wear? Compression? Short of an oil analysis you know little more about this engine than before you turned it on.
What about...
If anyone can find anything specific to 'Class A License' (other than the weight allowances) on the PA DMV web site let me know :)
I think you would be simply taking the general knowledge course but the driving test would be in your Class A vehicle.
One place that might be a source of info...
No, I meant Class A because technically, if I was lucky enough to drive it home, I would need a Class A to do it (I live in PA).
Now the hard part.. to get a Class A you need to show up in a vehicle that needs a Class A license... yet I (or whomever) may not own a vehicle that big, and rentals...
Quick question about a getting a vehicle off the GL lot.
Not sure if I read this right, but the GL Lot info in MI says that I need license, insurance and registration to take a vehicle off base.... thats cool.
How to I insure/register a vehicle I don't own?
Are there some keywords I need to...
You are correct on everything. Class A license, no CDL for personal use.
I have an Antique plated jeep and tow a trailer (1/4 ton). *technically* the letter of the law is *NO* CARGO.
How often is that enforced? How many people got a ticket for it?
I plan to put a 1 ton trailer behind my...
It seems you got some of the wood bed parts, but might be missing some of the important ones (shear tabs, j bolts, side anchors). You could make a wooden bed without them, but would need extra bracing.
The fenders look good (a little rust at the running board is common and easy to fix). Even...
It actually looks in better than average shape. Lots of the engine bits are still there, the half doors don't appear rusted and the windshield looks solid.
A wood bed is the hard part, but they are out there.
Won't know the full story till you start to take things apart.
Winch models are...
I made no explicit statements regarding any half track.
Most turn key HTs are $30-$40k
