The transfer case on the 800 series is about the weakest link. It is not a job I would do myself. I had one go bad on my 812 and had a truck shop do the work, and it took them twice to get it right.
I would sure talk to one of the bigger dealers about an exchange for a rebuilt.

An easy fix ! I opened up an M35 door and low and behold it had been repaired.
Open up the pinch fitting that holds the spring and throw away the bad spring. Next mash the pinch fitting back down into the plate.
Cut a 3.5" piece of 1/4" rod and weld it to the top of the latch plate...
These have been common for the past 50 years in all the trucks. But I need to find a source for the coil door latch springs. There apparently are left and right hand sides.
I keep robbing old parts trucks, but I am running out of doors.
When I had my M-135 tranny rebuilt about 15 years ago, the experienced mechanic had me run Dextron III and it has been fine ever since. Tom @ Snake River
Before the tranny goes anywhere, make sure exactly what it is. It could be one of two things.
If it has the 2 speed rear end, then it would be for a truck.
If it does not have the 2 speed, then it is out of a M-114 APC. I got suckered into buying an APC hydomatic when I was fixing up my...
I am sure this has been discussed through the years, but it escapes my memory.
Is there any decent conversion or replacement for the the standard military wiper arms and blades. The origionals sure are a POS.
Chaplin, see if this link works

I did not have to do an EUC on this truck, are you sure you had to do one on yours ???
I have reciept in hand already.
I am building a farm service truck out of mine. I run 5 - M-800...
That is good to know that you are by Hill AFB. I do have a cousin that lives about 4 miles away, and I think I will have him go over and pick it up.
The narritive says that it starts and runs. That way he can get it off the base and I can come down on a Sunday and pick it up.
If I think...
Let me ask a silly question, it is hard to tell from the pictures, but do these things run singles or duals on the rears ?
One pic looks like duals, another looks like a single. Tom @ Snake River
I just won the bid on the better of the 2 contract maintaince trucks at Hill AFB in Utah. It had about 29,000 miles and picked it up for around $3,000.00.
Reading the post below, it looks like the other guy stumbled into just a little better deal. But this truck is in nice shape and I feel...
We are running the 14:00 Michelin super singles on our M-819 here is a link, if someone can post the picture. http://www.dodgepowerwagon.com/wwwboard/messages/2750492.html
Your problem is the # 1 engine control box. There are 2 relays inside that give you problems. The last one I bought ran about $300.00 from Memphis, or there is an article in MV mag, issue # 102 on page 100 about rebuilding the box.
If it is bad, you have to sit there and switch it back...
Glad to see that you have a similar set-up to mine. I purchased a M-270 lowbox for my M-819 this spring.
Don't know about overall length, but the light weight is 47,000.
I knew about the loop on the side, BUT, how in the world do you install the spare tire up on the passenger side of the boom...
Is there any good info out there on shop truck or the clam-shell shop truck bodies ? ?
Do any of you own one, and have any comments ? ? ? Tom @ Snake River
A friend and I went down to Hill AFB where we had bought 4 M-332 ammo trailers for $130.00 each. We hooked 2 each behind a 1/2 ton GMC PU and 2 behind a 1/2 ton van.
Going down a hill in Utah, my friend hit the brakes a little hard, I looked back in the rear view mirror and saw the rear...
The HILL AEROSPACE MUSEUM is really now a world class collection. Of course it helps to have the US Govt behind the idea. It can be found on line at www.hill.af.mil/
Returned today from Hill AFB in Utah where we picked up 4 ammo trailers.
We had a very good experience. Did not talk to the female supervisor, but a young man helped us very nicely, grabbing the forklift and hooking the trailers up and even going back to the shed for some tools that we...
