a SS member stopped by and we put his 395 on hemmet wheels on to see if there were clearance issues. it looks closer in the pics than it really is, it clears by 1/8" and he had welded in centers so those with bolt on centers will have even more room.
keep in mind that no one has ever found a trans with this much OD that will fit in the short space available. given that you would spend, $3000 doing this, (a guess) it would take some time for payback, but driving at 65-70 is much nicer than 48.

no, i am refering to this thread. most OD trans are just that, OD, while the 3053 with my gear set is more like another gear which is what is needed with such a low rear ratio. i am very surprised no one has done this swap, i think it would be the best of both worlds.

i 'think' for an early 5 ton i.e. a m-52 etc, you would have to have a drag like going up front and a relay arm with another drag link going back to the axle. the actual pitman shaft looks like it would be almost on top of the axle assy. for 53's you just need custom wheels with enough offset...
for a while i was selling templates for the cab which included the firewall and don't forget the underside of the cowl. removing the dash panel and heater diverter if installed is not really that hard and allows a real good job.
tom
well, that may be enough since mine is 22,000 and i have no insulation. i agree, no leg room will suck. there must be a better way. i think a custom evap that mounts on the rear wall of the cab between the seats, and below the cab window. (since an obvious upgrade is 2 real seats)

personaly i doubt that headers would add even 1 hp. just as many others have said, adding a turbo will allow much more fuel to be added and in a diesel, fuel = hp. the real problem is the heads are so extremely inefficient. my opinion is that the ldt is capable of 200 hp, but that is not really...
i should mention the belt numbers i gave may not fit your install. i notice you moved the compressor further away from the water pump than i did so your bels will be longer and your problem with belt wrap on the alt will be worse. anyway, be sure the belts are gates green stripe with the HD at...
i have not sealed my cab at all. with 22k btu evap it really does not need sealing. but i will sometime soon if i get caught up on other things. since i upgraded the belts i have not had to adjust them at all.
tom
all of you will have issues with the alt pulley slipping. i know, i did also. the solution is to use gates green stripe belts # 9530HD. make sure it is the HD, they are green all over, not just the back side.

both the ross and the saginaw box provide almost equal power. i chose to use the saginaw in my kit since i had done several on my own trucks. there is a lot of info including instructions on my website.

if all you want it to do is support the bumper and winch that should be fine, but why not just get the winch frame extension pieces? the way i think you intend to do it, the top and bottom 2" wide pieces are the most important, make sure the bolts fit the holes close and with no threads in the...
park your truck on dry pavement with 14.5R20 michelins. now get 2 strong guys to MAKE the wheels turn. this is what you will be doing to the steering box. a 40 year old box with a bad seal and low fluid as well perhaps. at what point does the box input shaft just shear off?
yes it works and has...
so you are simply forcing the old original steering box to turn the wheels. something it was never indended to do. at least make it a cylinder assist kit. what is the price for members?
