it is really even more simple than that. forget about the aux tank pump. just run the supply and return lines to whatever tank you want to use. it should be at about the same level as the gen set.

how loud the whine is, can be a relative thing. hard to quantify, but with 30 wt mine is quiet, as they all should be. so using a heavy oil is just covering up a problem.
a loud whine is just an indication that something is worn and the clearances are wrong. 4th will tend to be quiet since it...
the only gear that ever moves is 1st and rev slider. it is the rear. look down on the three center gears, they should line up with the bottom gears and not move front to rear.

you need to have the top off, this is all just a educated guess. if it doesn't have a winch, and you have the facilities to remove the trans, i think it is a toss up whether it is easier in the truck of out. it can be done in the truck but pulling the rear brng off the mainshaft may be a pain.

300 lbs? you mean 3,000 lbs, but i doubt they are that much. close though. i would not think a bobcat would remove one from a truck, the engine is at least 1400 and the reach is gonna be a problem.

i do not believe the 3053 is prone to failing. out of around 3 million transmissions made for the military, we have heard of only a few hundred that have failed in a big way. you can break anything if you try hard enough to. having seen how some of these trucks are driven in the mil, i think it...
most of the line is 3/8", but there is some 1/2" . replace it with truck air brake line. if you just want to patch it, it is copper and compression fittings are fine since the pressure is low.

gerhard brings up a good point, the input shaft of the trans has no seal so even if the trans vent is plugged, it will still vent out the front. i wonder if it would carry any oil with it. the trans oil level is way below the shaft, but at speed lots of oil flying around. i don't see how the...
most people just use truck air brake line. it is UV proof, reinforced, and the correct size. (it is all std size 1/4" 3/8" 1/2") just use brass inserts and nylon ferrels and do not over tighten.

clean oil is perfectly normal, it will take a few hundred miles to start getting black and maybe a 1000 to get really black.
high oil pressure is also normal since there are combinations of senders and gauges that do not go togeather, but are used by the unknowing. if it was showing oil pressure...
ok, so i will speculate as well. don't bother with putting anything in neutral, neutral may not exsist anymore. hold the clutch in and see if it will turn. also taking the belts off is a good idea, but if they stopped the engine, they should show some grief.
form what you describe, my money is...
a 2000 lb trans jack from HF is only $200 and a good investment if you have a bunch of friends who may need to 'rent' it. $195 for the brng/seal kit is full retail, you can do a lot better.
