Is this worth getting?! Junkyard Find

I will go see if their open tomorrow. Monday for sure on our way home. Cab did have a green color, but wasn’t OD as we know it. Bed was gone. It was literally all the way back of the lot, almost against the fence. Didn’t even dawn on me to look at door jam until I had already left. Was on...

Is this worth getting?! Junkyard Find

Was wondering through the local AZ junkyard in the town my In-Laws live in. Think it’s a Dana 70 on 85 Chevy K30. Dana 60 up front. Rest of truck is partly picked over. Is this worth gettkng? I would have to rent a uhaul trailer since we are in our GMC conversion van and tow it back. Looks...

Alternate use for a M1101: Truck bed

Hope your not done yet. DOT will have issue with no bumper. Taillights are also too high for that class of truck. Definitely looks.......ummm....different.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Already have a new Delphi fuel pump on the way just in case. Filter was just changed when I installed new injectors. Their dry. Good tip on that weird hose. Will do that for sure. Hopefully it’s just the fuel pump and my IP didn’t crap out. Will troubleshoot when I get back. HATE being...

    Hayes Axle ?

FleetPride or any other heavy truck parts house will have what you need. As already mentioned, yours looks like an industry standard axle. Even NAPA stores close to the truck stops carry lots of big rig parts that normal Napa stores don’t.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Well I broke something. For the first time in over two years my M1008A1 will not start. Cranks great, just won’t fire. Was getting harder to start the last few days. Wet by mechanical fuel pump, so hopefully it failed or the hose is bad. (That pre-formed weird shaped fuel hose is the only...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I use that type by DeWalt. I also use a wire wheel. The difference is a wire wheel will not sand off metal like the disks do. Sure they clean up metal nice, but you can also see where it removes metal with each pass. No matter how easy you are on the downforce, it still takes it off. Wire...

    M923a2 Low range reverse

I had a CWO in charge of a Army Maintenance Facility tell me putting it in reverse and backing up is fine, as long as you do not have it under much load. The transfer case cannot handle the increased torque, and it’s the reverse gearing that has the most torque. He recently retired after 33...

    New Manufactured Power Steering Brackets

How did this conversation morph into AR bolt carrier steel?! Steels Not even in same ballpark as a pump bracket. Best CNC machines in China will not matter a bit if their not staffed with knowledgeable and experienced people. Some things in China are made extremely well. Most are not. It is...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Dexter makes a brake assembly called FreeBack. Surge assembly is the same. Brake backing plates have extra parts to prevent them from engaging when backing up. Maybe the M1101 has these installed? Don’t own one so I’m not sure. Dexter makes a lot of trailer/axle/brake parts for the military.

Why did you disassemble it? Any pics of the inside parts?

    1008 CUCV 4 Antenna Locations

Sounds like a M1008A1 Communications Truck. Radio Rack was in back and the cover protected it. The NSN number on the data plate will tell for sure.
