RE: Pictures of towbar feet
Also, Sermis, Boxcar91 and myself pulled 2 M35's with another 2 M35's out of OKC a week ago. Plan on averaging 25-30 mph for the trip. We were happy to get that by the way.
RE: Pictures of towbar feet
You got it figured out.
You can run a set of stick on lights or if using a MV to pull the M35. Connect into the rear trucks trailer plug, unscrew the blinker arm inside and all the rear truck's lights will work off the front truck controls.
A 1-1/8" wrench is needed to tighten the wraps up. I used a combination wrench and it took forever. Might want to think about a deep socket for this. Also, soldier B can be a real asset when threading the chain around the axle.
Move the brake line a little and you are good to go. These are the only pictures I have that even show the tow bar hooked to the chain axle wraps. I got none of the wraps themselves.
There are 7 pin holes in a standard medium tow bar. I think this one is set on #7 or #6.
The bottom picture...
The muffler will keep it less noisy below 30 mph or so. Above that and all the other noises mentioned come into play and you will still make you want to cover your ears. My Gasser M35 is that way. I can't even hear the exhaust at idle or low speeds. But, once I get above 30 or so and it is...
You will be amazed at what the stock 60 amp alternator does to supposedly dead and gone batteries. We picked up 4 trucks in OKC last weekend. Going up there we knew that two of the trucks had bad batteries. One was missing batteries and box. We brought an old rusted out box, terminal ends...
You could mix and match parts to make a good one. However, a 2 hour trip to Lufkin is probably easier.
The PTO should swap over. Look in the -20 about installing the PTO and the clearance issues that go along with it. This is a job easier done on the bench instead of under the truck by the way.
RE: Why aren
The Gas vs. Diesel thing does play in. Plus, I think Korea was really a mixed bag of trucks and vehicles. CCKW's could have been there. So could M135, M211, M34 and M35 trucks. Most people look at WWII and think CCKW. Vietnam you get the Duece and the 5 ton. Desert Storm and...
You do not need to plug the other hole on the air pack. I would just to keep dirt and crud out however.
Connect the air hose to the back of the air pack. That puts the air from the drivers side glad hand on the front truck right to the airpack where it is needed. If you go glad hand to glad...
Kenny is correct. Sermis has the LDS427 turbo on one of his trucks. You have to try to hear any turbo noise at all. Normally, it can only be heard by somebody a few hundred feet away as he is shifting.
1953 REO. That is the parts truck for my 1952 REO Gasser. I drove the '52 to work today just because I could. It was like being in a totally different type of vehicle compared to the 1970 Whistler I drove 200 miles in on Sunday.
Grade 5 or grade 8 will work. I will have to look at the manual to see what was stock. I used grade 8 for the most part because I have a bunch of that right now.
I put anti-sieze on every fastener when I put the gasser back together. Mostly because just about every fasterner was stuck and...
A bulldozer pushed mine up. Even with the rear tires locked, it took about 5 minutes.
We showed up thinking we were going to have to self load though. The plan was to unhook the trailer for the M35 it was hooked to. Hook it to my M715. Let Sermis and his M35 use his winch to pull the truck...
I tried to get that plate out when I had my cab off last winter for the same reason. I couldn't do it. A person with small hands could get a hand in through the cowl vent to the back of the plate. But, it is held on the same way the captured nuts are. With metal around the edges.
I would...
When I finally got to go pick up my newest M35 from Wart Hog last weekend, I of course had to drive it around. I tried the blinker before going anywhere and they didn't work. The respective lights would light up and stay solid. I figured the blinker box was bad and forgot about it.
Sermis...
Glad you got it out Chris. Wrapping electrical tape around the universal part of the 9/16" swivel socket makes putting that 4th bolt back in pretty easy.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Why does one truck
Hammer,
I am looking for the same answer. We drove the 4 trucks back from OKC this weekend. All of them have the C turbo and all whistle varying degrees of loud. My truck has the loudest whistle. so loud that standing 200 yards away up wind, you can...
