We have just about finished painting the 5 ton and I have learned a couple things.
First thing: We used Rapco 383 substitute with paint gun and that worked very well. On the M35 we used spray cans for brown and black since much smaller areas to paint. But when you use a spray can on a large...
I think the rental truck is a good idea, just to get it over with. Md has got to be the most difficult state to deal with in regards to licensing and tagging of vehicles.
Redwolf...I dont understand the need for a B license when you have an "A"...I have an A with passenger endoresement. I...
First thing I would do is wash it all off. Use spray nine or some degreaser. Looking at the pictures its really hard to tell where its coming from. So i think I would wash all down, let dry and start over. Next time you drive it keep checking and hopefully you will find where the leak starts...
I bought an M35 then an M813. I'd get one and keep both if you could. I like the 5 tons and 2 1/2 tons for different reasons. Something about the "C" turbo I love. :)
I love the looks of the older trucks and I like manual transmission. I drove M923s in the Marines and were good trucks.
Well getting closer to painting. Weather has just not been fit lately. Could paint in shop but dont want to have to cover everything up. 2 weeks untill car show, If all else fails will paint inside. Hope to see some of you guys around.
For comparison I paid $2400 for this one at GL. Ran, had to make some minor repairs to brakes. and now painting but was in great shape. I wouldnt give much for that truck for sure when im sure you can find one in better shape for near the price he wants. Good luck
My thinking on this one from GL...
Is it only fouling #4? i would suspect oil foiling vs fuel fouling. The needle and seat may be stuck, but usually if they are it would flood terriably and foul more than one plug. i would dissasemble carb and clean everything for the running rich problem. Of course in any issue should check...
well the M813 i picked up had no brakes. master cylinder was full but I found 2 sets of brakes adjusted the wrong direction. Funny as the truck has all new wheel cylinders, not even a small amount of rust on the bleeders or lines. After adjusting those 2 wheels, [on the rear and different axles]...
Rule of thumb if gap is not known, is 90 degrees to center electrode. Of course proper gap is best, but if in a pinch, just make it square..it will work untill you can find proper gap. or forever..:beer:which ever comes first
When we got our Duece last year it had zero free play in the clutch pedal travel. As soon as we got home that was the first adjustment we made. So far no issues with slipping, but if left that way I'm sure it would have.
Those big tires look cool, but also add wear and tear on clutch disc as...
We have several of those at work we use for sheet metal on the road. They are tough. I have a Lincoln 180 220 volt i keep small wire [.023] in my shop at home for sheet metal repairs. Pretty good machine. For bigger stuff i use a Miller 250 with .035 wire in it at home.
Depending on the metal thickness.
using .023 wire
18-16 gauge, voltage 3 or 4 with wire speed between 19-30%
16-14 gauge, voltage 5 and wire speed 40%
14-12 gauge, voltage 6 and wire speed of 50%
All on low range. Im not sure the thickness of what your welding. Someof the sheet metal on these...
