Perfect job for a SPEEDY -SLEEVE and a new seal of course. Or just a new seal if the yoke is in good shape. You own an impact wrench, right? There is probably north of 150 ft. lbs on the pinion nut.
You are describing this as leaking from the top, do you mean the front.... there is a bolt that holds the fitting on the front of the fan hub. I am surprised they all don't leak here. There is a bolt and D shaped washer that holds it on. I believe it has pressure on the back side of the bolt but...
Red diesel is off road fuel, no taxes..... just replaced the oring and dust seal in the front of my fan clutch........ try tightening the 1/2 nut on the front if you can get an arm in..... an extra elbow helps....... and it will not turn much, just snug it up and see if that helps. Pull the fuel...
Somewhere lost in the back corner of my head I seem to remember a post or info on making your own...... just adding the key cylinder and arm maybe???
I have a guess that might be right down your alley. Hope this helps.
YOU OWN TOOLS!!! Way ahead of some that have bought these. There are some great amateur wrench spinners and a couple of masters on here, paying attention to them will serve you well. (Saves some money on silly stuff) If you are new to diesels there are a couple of minor things mostly fuel...
Mine had 83 miles on it when it rolled off the trailer at my shop, fuel filter looked worse! The inside of your fuel tank is probably ugly too, the fuel system is one of my pet peeves. You will learn to love POWER SERVICE. Rebuilt my pump also (stay away from Chattanooga) and if there was...
Sorry, too old and ornery to figure out how to post pictures and my tech guy is not here today. BUT stick SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE into your favorite search engine and they have lots of pictures and instructions. I might add, when installing these keeping them and the surface CLEAN is IMPORTANT. The...
Once you get it apart if there is any pitting under the seal area a product called "speedy sleeve" I believe is the name, installs over the damaged area giving the seal a smooth surface. Severe corrosion in this area will be a weak point in the shaft so be mindful of this. I've got an wet hub...
These fittings are available on line or any good hydraulic shop, its possible to make your lines up from scratch. My local guys also have the heat shield in stock. CLEANLINESS is a MUST, nothing left inside the lines when they are cut! I,ve had good luck and bad luck when replacing the ends...
I'M IMPRESSED , great work compared to most stuff here. By now i'm sure you realize the bushing is toast and will need replacing. For those attempting this winch bracket swap, if the bolts turn after loosening the nut, before removing them, give them a good spin in both directions with an...
For anyone else, I see you pulled the trigger, a M/M 12,000 LB bolts right into the rear mount and mine works great with the hood mounted valve. Probably have to drill the inside corner braces for the mount. The 12,000 gives you a little extra grunt on the first wrap. My 2 cents worth.
The trucks weight has nothing to do with the "engine margin". My point was "speed", 3000, 7200, or more pounds on oil slick tires and you are just along for the ride. ( I bet it ends bad) If you look at enough trucks with "oil leaks" you see a lot of connecting rods hanging out of the block. The...
You might want to think this one over a little???? I know I for one would not want to be in one of these trucks at 85 when a connecting rod falls out a hole in the side of the block. Just my 2 cents.
Over the last 37 or so years I've had commercial vehicles plated in one state insured in two or three other states and operated all over the US and CANADA. For the last 20 years there have been at least 2 and some time 3 insurance policies in effect at the same time (don't ask). Set down face to...
The CDR regulates the amount of blowby inside the engine back into the intake. If the guys that removed it did a good job looping the hoses(no leaks) it will put the internals under negative pressure but not a great deal. Diesels are not "air throttled" but fuel throttled. If the looped hoses...
Tires are one of the maintenance practices best done DYI. Once the shop see's them I would guess the shop will not touch them or that the price will be astronomical. Just my 2 cents. By the way, it takes me all day to do 4 with run flats. Lots of breaks!
