Thanks everyone for your input on the ease of steering repair - I agree. I own a shop, so no big deal. I don't want to invest the day off and the expenses to find out it is a more major problem.
They have changed their minds and allowed me to leave the 1009 at the site until the claim is...
I bought a M1009 of GSA a while back and it has A/C. It's a real M1009, not a civvy conversion. Has anyone else seen one come out of military service with A/C? The AC compressor is mounted on a bracket on the drivers side and driven off a small belt from the alternator. I'll get some pics.
Nope, I only signed off on what I picked up - one mistake I didn't make. I'm actually supposed to get a call from "Management" tomorrow to discuss the matter. I'm NOT holding my breath.
Went to Costco and picked up the warehouse sized tub of petroleum jelly tonight.
I have this bad feeling that this is not going to turn out well
I won 3 - M1009's in Richmond back in November / December and after an eternity to get the EUC's approved, I went down to pick two of them up last Wednesday, 2/17. The plan was to trailer the worst one back and drive one...
I'm going to Richmond, VA tomorrow 2/17, to pick up a couple of units and might have time to check out a couple of things if anyone needs help? That also is dependent on how the "new" guy Michael at the site allows us to look around.
It's been a while since I've made any previews or pickups...
We've got one cut down and running, ready to cut the bed down right now. No, I won't put a trailer bed on it, I just don't like the look of them. It's in the Leesburg, VA area. Can't get to it for pics right now due to the snow. Let me know.
I'm pending Approval from Battle Creek on a 1009 at Richmond. Have probably picked up 15 vehicles and 20 other lots of stuff from there. Normally pretty good people. Let me know when you get scheduled and i'll try to get there.

First, I have to apologize for the major response delay to this thread .
Between going back and forth to Florida to take care of mom who had a heart attack and bypass surgery and working 12 hour days while home, I haven't replied to anyone, anywhere. I've just lacked the mental capacity...
3 in the cab w/bench passenger seat, 14 in the bed w/troop seats - assuming about 175 lb each.
Just under 5 quarts in the transmission. Best to allow for a little expansion. 1/2 a knuckle below the fill level.
