Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

Decisions decisions....what's a guy to do.... :) I say skip the 4bt because it's a marine motor which means you will have to modify it for street use. 318 is gas and Chrysler so it wouldn't be proper to put into a GMC... The 6bt sounds the best so far and is a strong motor. But if your...

    Paint Question

Like Zax said. Go to your automotive paint suppler in your town and find the color gray you want from their color samples. Then tell them you want to paint it flat. They will sell you a can of stuff that looks kind of like a thin vanilla milk shake (PPG brand was that way) and you mix that...

    Installing a ROPS onto a m151a1

They were done in the military I've seen military photos of it, but I can't say if it was done in a testing environment like at APG or a field mod. I think the limit chain is a two edge sword. The limit of the A-arm will help with drivability on road, but could hinder off- road perfomance. You...

    Installing a ROPS onto a m151a1

:ditto: Actually the mounting positions of the A1 rear suspension and the A2 are different. The A1 being a A arm type suspension and the A2 being a trailing arm suspension. Can you convert them? As said above with time and money..or time and mad welding skills yes it is possible. But why?

    m211 fuel problem?

Also check the diaphram on the governor on the carb. M211 had that almost same problem and I found that the diaphram was bad and it was kicking the governor in when I would try to give it gas. It's either the fuel delivery system or the carb or a combo of both.

    BOSCH Duraterm Glow Plugs

From the webpage linked abouve. "Bosch patented Duraterm® technology*" So who's spelling is right?

    Installing a ROPS onto a m151a1

I have seen ROPS installed in A1s mostly done by civilian owners. The only real modification is where the kit attaches in the rear of the vehicle. The area by the tail lights on the A2 is different than the A1 and that makes it neccesary to modify the A1 body to support the ROPS kit. The...

    mystery object M151A2

That's the right side smoke shifter! I have no clue...worked on M151s for about 25 years and restored a dozen of them and took apart maybe a dozen more and I've never seen anything like that. Good luck and let us know if you find anything out.

    Pics of the Studebaker US6

This is great keep up the good work and please keep us posted. I am very interested in seeing how you progress on the wood bed as there are not many wood beds out there and I can't wait to see how you put this one back together.

Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

Looks like a plan. I personnally am not a big fan of storage bins, but that is just me. I still think a G506 style bed would work really well. A wood bed would look cool too since it's of that time period where some trucks still had wood beds. How far are you going to extend the cab...

    This could be exciting...

Now the big question for Matt... You sold the first MV to get married....did your wife give you permission to get this one or are you going to be like...what it just followed me home..can I keep it? Get that civy engine all fixed up and you'll have a hot-rod M37... Good save both...

Dumb question about transfer case and driveshafts

Let me see if I'm following you correctly. You have NO drive shafts between the transfer case and the axles? If that's correct then yea your not going to move. You need at least one drive shaft in order for the truck to roll. If I miss read what you said then please disregard.

    Brake Drum headache!

You shouldn't have any gear oil up in the barrings unless you have a bad seal. The barrings are packed in grease just like an car. If you pull the hub and drum and find gear oil in there you'll have a little more work to put it back together, but since your making a bobber road machine you...

    Cowl Weather Stripping?

I would try one of the canvas suppliers like Weebee or Beachwood. That is a common webbing used on many MVs.
